Red face Why I don't like rick.....

OK, apparently I'm not alone in not liking Rick, so true to my cynical nature, I felt it would be fun to outline the various ways that I think he sucks...

1. He's not cute. He wasn't by 80's standards, and he sure isn't today.
2. Musicians... *bleh* especially classical musicians. I've had my run-ins and boy howdy, it ain't pretty!!! *DISCLAIMER* I don't meant to offend anybody, it's just that the biggest egotistical, self-absorbed, coke-heads I've ever met happen to play in various symphony orchestras across the country.
3. So what was the deal with him having all the girls boyfriends stand up for him at the wedding? Come on... Jo isn't the girly-girl who loves planning weddings, so you aren't gonna force me to believe that this was her doing. Rick has no friends... He had to borrow other men. Beware of a man with no friends
4. He wasn't that funny, although he did have a couple of good lines
5. Jo was meant to be with George the handyman. She could teach him how to fix things right, and he can teach her how to get big studio lead roles without requiring an ounce of talent. Besides, their kids would be beautiful!! No amount of arguing will ever convince me to change my mind.

Did I miss anything? Oh yeah, Rick doesn't have any money. That part sucks too....

And he's a grown man who likes to play with sock puppets...gotta admit that is a little weird. LOL, I don't really like Rick myself. I could see him having Blair's boyfriend, Casey, in the wedding party since they both came from the center, but why he had Nat and Tootie's boyfriends in the wedding party was beyond me.

I've always thought that Jo and George would've been a great couple and I'm glad someone else agrees I even liked Eddie better but unfortunately he turned out to be a schmuck and was secretly married the last time he visited Jo.

IMO, Jo could've easily done better than Rick.

Tootie: Muffy? Her name is Muffy? What kind of person is named Muffy?

Jo: Beats me, Tootie.

I can understand that, and I respect your ressons. But Rick's a good gey and he'd never make Jo cry. George is nice but he moved before a romance could blosum between the two. And another thing:you unwitingly insulted me; I'm a musician-no offense taken, though. I understand.
All I'm saing is that Jo deserse someone nice, and I think she'd be a lot better off with Rick instead of Eddie

I totally agree with coily2 on this one. I mean, Rick was okay, but he bugged me have the time. I just can't understand why they got married. Jeez, how long was he on the show? Two episodes? I personnaly think that Jo was way better with Eddie than Rick, by far(despite Eddie's little lie, but they could of goten over that!). Anyway, that's what I think...

I'm not too big on Eddie since he through that lie at Jo, and then in "Teenage Marriage" he came on a bit self-cenetered to me. I mean he kept telling Jo that he was all she had, but Jo had alot of friends had Eastland. He was a good guy though and I'm sure he meant well...
As for George, I never saw much chemistry there.
Rick is a pretty cool guy, but the one I wish she would have hooked up with was the guy from the Bronx that she met... It was when Blair was doing her little 'rating system'. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? LOL! Anyway, I thought that guy was pretty cool.

Beverly Ann: Let's see. It's tomorrow in Africa so if I want to talk to Edna today then I should have called her yesterday...

Blair: The worst thing about falling asleep at the wheel is that I didn't get to see my whole life flash in front of my eyes.
Jo: Well that woulda killed ya for sure.

All right Coily!!! I agree, Jo deserved better. She never acted as in love with Rick as she did with Eddie. The relationship between Jo & Rick was a total whirlwind--they just introduce this Rick character, and next thing you know those two are married.
BTW, I had no idea that musicians in SYMPHONY ORCHESTRAS would be coke-heads. Rock stars I can understand, but... (No offense to all the symphony orchestra musicians and rock stars who visit this board, LOL)

I liked the Bronx guy too... He would've been alot of fun if they evolved that relationship a bit more.

As far as the muscian bit, like i said, I mean no offense, but I am basing this on FIRST HAND EXPERIENCE!!!!! I used to be a musician myself.....

ks,

Are you talking about the episode The Ratings Game? If you are then this would be Doug or played by Kevin Spirtas(sp)?

personally i have to disagree, i think that, if you really love someone, the way he looks is just an offset. i think it is really sweet how rick shows his affection for Jo in such creative ways. it really proves that not all me are drips(no offense guys!) i really like rick and if i could ever find a guy who was so devoted to trying to make me happy and love me that much i would fall madly in love

JRick:....and here's you in the delivery room with our first child little Ricky.
Jo: oh, how nice, a BOY!
Rick:no, acctually it's a girl, here name is Erica, but we call her Little Ricky!

Jinny: i think i am going to give up men
Magda: you, give up sex?
Jinny: i didn't say i was giving up sex, i just said i was giving up men! to tell you the truth i kinda like the idea of becoming intamate with something that comes with a money-back gaurentee!

WOW! Thats a little more responses than I expected! And I didn't realize most of you hated Rick so much. I'm not saing Rick is perfect. and in my oppinion Jo should have married me but like JoRocks87fol said, Rick truly loves Jo.Now, isn't that what we're all looking for? True love? There would be a lot less devorses.

ks, i definitly agree, jo would have made an awesome couple with that guy from the bronx! they were so right for each other( and they both had similar backrounds and could relate to one and other) i wish they could of had her then marry rick...(rick kinda of annoys me, he is a better dad on popular then he was a husband in fol.. IMO anywys)

Personally I liked Rick, I agree with what has been said about Rick totally devoted to Jo. Plus, there is the saying that opposites attract, and they will make such a better team because they came from different backgrounds. I like Rick because he truly loved Jo, no one can argue that. And he was persistant and I think that Rick and Jo's strengths and weaknesses compliment each other.

hey guys~ personally i think that Rick was a good guy..he did do alot of cute things for Jo but he did some stupid things to...ie: letting Andy drive the car...u know? i mean in his own way Rick was cute..if u look @ his personally,i found that out from my own life experience. Rick and Jo were a good couple even if their relationship did come about suddenly..and if Jo liked him..then he's good enough!! but that's jsut my opinion

I dont know... maybe if Rick was a round a little longer, I would of goten used to him, but I never did. I'm a big fan of the earlier seasons, so i'd still say Jo was better with Eddie than anyone else, despite his faults. It just seemed like they were the couple of the show, along with Tootie and Jeff, Blair with Cliff, etc, etc... but that's just me...
