Default To the contact lense wearers in the house

What system do you use to clean your contacts? I just switched to AO-SEPT because I couldn't stand wearing the contacts anymore, because they stung so much.

Also, what kind of saline, disinfectants, neutralizers, et cetra do you use?

Well, I don't know if it has a name, but I use the good ol' "stick the contacts in the contact case overnight" method. The stuff that I soak 'em in and clean them with and stuff is AMO Complete. My eyes get really dry and hurt and stuff and I use rewetting drops (same brand as the my solution)

((What the hell is AO-SEPT?))

I just take mine out every night and store them in saline, then put em in in the morning.

Here's a pic of the AO-SEPT system-

The process is kind of long, but I like it. You take your contacts out, and disinfect them in your hand, then rinse with saline (I use saline for sensitive eyes) then put them in the special cup (see picture) and fill it with a hydrogen-peroxide based solution. Let them sit overnight, take them out and rinse with saline in the morning. The makers of the system are CIBA. I also happen to have CIBA contacts

renu multi plus no rub solution. All I do is fill up the little holders and stick my contacts in. Sometimes I leave them out on my desk or something if im too lazy at night and then just put em in the solution for 10 minutes so that they are soft again. i guess i dont take care of em too well.

Really? I used to use that and the little container thingies... the solution was too harsh for my eyes, and the container thingies for some reason, didn't do a good job soaking my contacts so now I'm stuck with this thing

I clean and soak mine in Renu. I also soak them once a week in Alcon Enzyme cleaner. My contacts last a lot longer by using Alcon once a week.
I found out that I cannot use any product that contains Thimerosal. Most "sensitive eyes" solutions are Thimerosal free. Read the label. I don't know if this is your problem but after I went to that formula I have had no problems at all!

Hi, Karly.

I use a saline solution, Alcon Opti-free to store them in over night, and Alcon Opti-Clean 2 or Pliagel to clean them with before I store them for the night. The AO Sept system you're using is very difficult.

All I have to do is put a drop of Opti-Clean 2 or Pliagel on my pointing finger, put the lens on that, and put another drop on top of the lens, then rub to get the protein from my eye off the lens. Then I wash it off with a stream of saline, put it in the left or right side of a little case, and squirt in some Opti-free disinfectant.

Good luck.

Brandon

Thanks for the responses, everyone. BrandonS- yeah, the AO SEPT system is a little difficult, but I'm getting the hang of it!
