An article in USA Today contained a wealth of release information for previously unannounced shows. Here's the list:

The Critic was a good show IMO. Barney Miller on DVD?
Are these rumors or are they official?

Thanks to Tino Persico, who runs a great Critic fansite . Thanks to USAToday, we've all known since July that this was heading to DVD at some point. Now, Tino has sent over word that he's posted this article based on a note from Jay Brown. Jay wrote to Tino about a speech given by none other than Critic Co-Creator Mike Reiss this past week at Southern Illinois University. Jay's message, while not overly long, is full of several great anecdotes about the lecture Mike Reiss gave. I encourage fans of the show (or even The Simpsons) to head over to Tino's site and give it a read. But the REALLY good part is this right here: Jay writes: He showed us what he called his favorite clip from the show...After showing the clip he simply said, "By the way for those of you who are interested The Critic will be coming out on DVD in February." Well, that DOESN'T stink, does it? It doesn't mention a date, but narrows it down quite a bit for us. While the studio behind this DVD, Columbia, doesn't usually talk about DVD plans this far in advance, it's nice to begin planning for the purchase. Keep in mind, though, that this isn't official word from the studio, and that plans can and often do change. We'll have official word from Columbia on their official announce date and not a minute sooner. Stay tuned until then! |

Following up on our news item from last week, we want to let you know that Columbia/TriStar Home Entertainment is planning to formally announce the DVD set for The Critic shortly. Columbia has announced an announce date of Nov. 17th, which is when you'll find out the title's exact release date, disc count, price, and specs. Please note that any information or artwork you see prior to that date is preliminary at best, and that IT STINKS! Columbia explicitly says that the final artwork and details are not ready at this time. So don't pay too much attention to that stuff, and stay tuned: we'll have the real deal for you on Columbia's official announce day. |
