Default "Buffy The Vampire Slayer: The Complete Fifth Season" on DVD - 12/9/03

http://tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=526

On 7/10, the DigitalBits.com posted some dates for upcoming TV sets from Fox.

We've got some new Fox TV street dates for you today. Look for Dark Angel: Season 2 on October 21st, The X-Files: Season 8 on November 4, King of the Hill: Season 2 on November 11 and M.A.S.H: Season Five, Firefly: The Complete Series and Buffy: Season 5 all on December 9th.

Now some of you might wonder why we took so long to post the news when it seems like everyone else was posting it? Well, we prefer to look into news items before we post it, and it took awhile to hear back from Fox (no doubt they're busy working on TV sets!). It's amazing how fast the news spread from site to site, yet The Bits wasn't ever credited. This is a common problem with news sites; not giving credit where credit is due, and it's a shame.

This is true? I can't believe it. 3 DVD box sets released this year. Do you think they'll put season 6 and 7 on DVD? I hope so.

Thank you for posting this

I heard this has been canceled.

From TV Tome:

I'm not sure about the rest of you who pre-ordered the 5th season of Buffy on DVD in region one on Amazon.com, but I just received an e-mail saying that the order has been canceled because the release of the DVD has been canceled. I don't know anything more.

Amazon:

Availability: THIS TITLE IS CURRENTLY NOT AVAILABLE. If you would like to purchase this title, we recommend that you occasionally check this page to see if it has become available.

So are they canceling the DVD releases? This sucks if it is true.

I got this from TV Tome:

Fox Home Entertainment has not yet decided on an official date to release 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer:Season 5' on DVD.

The 5th Season DVD once was planned to be released December 9, 2003, but Fox has dropped that date and hasn't decided an official date.

Once Fox Home Entertainment has an offical date, places like Amazon.com will go back to selling this item on their sites.

Well, that does sound like a better article, but I'm still quite nervous about the dvds. Damn, why couldn't they do an every month release for each show?

Something new I got in my email from TV Shows On DVD about Buffy season 5 box set:

Where did S5 go?? - 4:20 PM 8/05/2003
Well, after receiving a ton of email to the effect of "Where did Buffy
Season 5 go?!?" I thought I'd better post a news item. Amazon.com seems
to be jumping the gun on Fox product these days, and they've done it
again with this release. They post something, take a bunch of orders,
then Fox probably calls them and they pull the orders and cause mass
confusion. Way to go Amazon! The fact that Amazon has pulled the product off
their website means nothing, and we expect the set to be released when
it's supposed to be released. Don't like the antics of an etailer cause
you stress. Since there's no place to buy the set, we pulled it from
our site). Once it goes back on sale we'll post it again.

Fools. They could've sold big to have it released so close to Xmas. Come on, anybody that wants it could either buy it the day it comes out or get it as an Xmas gift for Xmas.

I agree. I knew there was something wrong with the first release date. I don't think 5th season will be out on DVD until January or February. JMO

Default Fox TV-DVD site firms dates for Buffy S5, Firefly, etc.

http://tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=605

A month ago we posted this http://tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=526]news item[/URL] listing Fox TV-shows-on-DVD releases for the holiday season 2004. Dark Angel, X-Files, King Of The Hill, M*A*S*H, Buffy, and Firefly were all represented.

Now Fox is advertising these dates at their official FOX TV DVD website. If you click on the "View All TV DVD Titles" at the bottom, and scroll down the list, you'll see the screen below. Below that, we have a close-up of the good stuff. Looks like it will be a hot winter!

I guess it is an okay cover for the box. I hope the season 6 box cover is better.

Thank you Impressions for all this news you have been posting.
