Default Why was The College Years not as Successful as the HighSchool Years?

I remember the College Years starting the same time I started College and I would watch the show in my Dorm, but I thought it was as interesting as the highschool years. I just wondered why it didn't last long.

Lisa wasn't in it. The college years were funnier and better, but it needed Lisa imo.

Because I love her and Screech together. She is a great actress, better than the two girls in the college episodes. jmo

Talking College years was a little boring

Personally, I think it could have been more interesting with Lisa also. But, then again, I'm bias because she was my favorite character. College years could have been more interesting except for the two women. They were boring and not interesting at all to watch. At least Jessie and Lisa said some funny stuff sometimes. They weren't as cheesy as the other two women.

I will say this: I liked the plot between Kelly and the Professor. I liked them together. I never did really see the chemistry been Zack and Kelly.

You know at the very beginning, I also didn't think "Leslie" and "Alex" fit the cast very well. But after watching TCY episodes at least a 50 times, I can honestly admit that I think they were a great addition to the cast.

Of course, when I first watched it, I wanted "Lisa" and "Jessie" to be there. It just wasn't the same without them.

But TCY grew on me a few years back. Maybe because I matured a little more and I was able to relate to the comedy they presented to be in the prime time slot.

I totally think "Alex" is hilarious now. I always laugh at her. She really played her character well. I don't know why, but I kinda see her as a female "Screech" in a way. I think her and "Screech" would have made a great couple, since we saw "Screech" mature a little bit in the CY and his clothes weren't that goofy anymore.

"Leslie" was a great addition to the show because she kinda helped "Zack" realize that the world isn't all about "skirt chasing" and she sort of taught him how he should try to pick up a lady in way that could work better for him as an adult. I think she was a very smart, sophisticated, and unique character that was added to the cast. She added a different perpective and was very honest about her feelings.

Well, these are my 2 cents for now. I have more, I am just really tired and I am kinda scaring myself about how much I know and love about this show.... LOL

Yea, me too. Lisa added a little spice and she was really funny. I didn't like Alex and Leslie . I thought their lines were unfunny and just cheesy. Jessie and LISA were funnier. And Alex really annoyed me, but after watching TCY a lot of times, Leslie wasn't really annoying, she was just cheesy

Everyone keeps saying Jessie but she was not even on Saved by the Bell in the last season. So why does everyone keep mentioning Jesse instead of Tori? Unless some of you didn't like Tori either.

I feel like I am the only one that love Tori. A lot of fans here hate her

And I loved Alex in TCY it was Leslie that got on my nerves, she was too stuck up imo.

It doesn't matter that Jessie wasn't in the lasyt season, and Tori wasn't really considered a real character. I couldn't stand Tori though, Jessie was better.

I agree, if Lisa would of been on The College Years, things might of gone better. She added something special to the show. Lisa could of easily replaced Leslie... she wasn't really needed- Zack would of matured without her anyways.

The reason I think that The College Years failed was because NBC expected to much of it. People make it seem as if the whole SBTB-fanbase turned away after SBTB:CY. C'mon... SBTB:CY received an average of 7-8 million in the Nielsen ratings- in todays standards that's not bad. We also forget that it went against "Full House" who was already a huge success, and had called primetime it's home since it's debut. Let's face it guys, going from Saturday mornings, to NBC Tuesday (big night) primetime isn't a easy jump- I'm still shocked to hear that it received atleast 7 million viewers.

Another thing is that to the audience, the characters matured TOO MUCH in one little summer. The main audience were pre-teens/teen (I, a fan, was around 9,) and seeing Zack and the gang act like adults so rapidly was a big turn-off.

Surpringly, as a kid I disliked the College Years ALOT, and now at 17, they are my favorite episodes.
Sadly, NBC didn't let The College Years grow either.

Oh, and remember... SBTB:CY wasn't really a failure.
