1. I haven't been to any overrated states yet, so I couldn't tell ya.

2. North Dakota is VERY VERY underrated. We have a LOT of unoccupied land and it's very nice and beautiful up here! Don't worry, we're just like you guys - we have malls and everything. We don't have the upscale stuff, but we do have Wet Seals and all those trendy stores. The largest city here is Fargo with 90,000+ people. The whole STATE has a population of 600,000 people. And it's only a few hours' drive from Minneapolis, something you definitely can't beat.

1. Overrated would probably have to be California. (Or, at least, LA, because thats the only part I've been to) What's so wonderful about the crowds?

2. Underrated would be Iowa, my state. Sure, it's boring, but we get by.

Got to disagree somewhat, Topanga. I went to California on business several times in the 80s, both North and South, and loved it.

I went to undergraduate and graduate school in Cleveland, and visited friends there in succeeding years, and found it a very uneventful sort of place.

Well, I live in NH, and we never seem to get any recognition. Yes, we're a small state, but we love too!!

Mass, because well, everyone always compares it to NH etc. (well Northern Mass/ Southern NH)

I've been to Minnesota a million times (I live in North Dakota), and I think it gets enough recognition because Josh Hartnett is from Minneapolis. I've been to Minneapolis a lot and it is such a nice city. The people there are soooo nice! It's the perfect Midwestern city to live in.

I don't think that South Carolina is overrated. I've been there 3 times and love it, if I was going to move anywhere it would be there. That's just my opinion though.

I haven't been to many states but I think some that are underrated are Maryland, Ohio, and Michigan. I've always like visitng both Maryland and Ohio and even though I've complained about hating Michigan, it really is a nice place to live. Sure sometimes you have to use the heat and AC in the same day but you get used to it!
