Ever wondered what a lanai is? Well, according to www.dictionary.com, it is:

a veranda or roofed patio often furnished and used as a living room

It's a Hawaiian term, also. Kind of odd that a piece of Hawaii went to Florida.

I always wondered why they didn't just call it a patio. That's basically what it was.

They do live in Miami. It sounds fancier. I'm going to start calling my patio a lanai.

Basically, you know... you've got to just give it a name. The house two doors down from us is a copy of our house, and the owners of that house have switched the "living room" and "family room" designations from the designations we use at our house.

Remember, a rose by any other name will still smell just as sweet.
