Default Someone tried to break into my house last night.

True Story! It was 3 AM, My sister was just about to go to bed, when she heard the doorknob jiggle, she looked at the door as it bowed in, as if someone were pushing from the outside. good thing the door was locked. This morning I went outside, and I found some footprints in the dirt. Needless to say there is now a revolver next to the computer 24/7. And I am currently making an electric alarm system, and am going to put it on all the doors in my house.

Sad me too

A few months ago my garage was broken into and some record players and 'decks'- (record mixers) worth almost $1000 were stolen. My mum heard something that night and went otu and saw someone sleeping near my neighbours garden, and thought it was just another drunk- then later tat day found the place broken into. The thief left his keys and a blanket behind- weird

I'm glad your okay! When I'm older I'm definitely buying a gun... I already know I want to live alone... and reading Patricia Cornwell books does not help me. I'm usually scared of my own shadow now at night

When I got my 2nd gun I had to go to a 2 day long gun safety class. If you are going to get a gun, I recommend a revolver, mainly because they are low maintenance, and they never jam.

My old house was near a prison. One night someone tryed to break in. Thankfully the door was locked and he moved on. Later, my family learned that someone had escaped from the prison and he was considered extremely damgerous. I guess we'll never know if it was the same guy that tryed to break into our house, but ever sense then my family has locked the door everytime they come in.

I was thinking of a revolver or a Glock .38... but I think it's pretty good that they require you to go to saftey classes. Prevents more accidents.

Red face

We nearly had that happen to us a few years ago, too. We were on vacation one summer, and at the time we went on vacation, I was still living in my first childhood home, which was just next door to my maternal grandparents' house. They told us they'd bring in the mail, newspaper and whatnot while we were away. One day, my grandma came in to bring in the mail and clean up a bit - she had both doors locked when she came in, so she was OK. She heard someone try to put a key in the lock, but it couldn't have been us because we weren't due back for another few days and we would have phoned her ahead of time if we were coming home early. Eventually, the person stopped trying to unlock our door and left...It was scary.

Yeah, a .38 is good for home defense. Glocks are pretty good guns, I've heard that they can fire underwater.

Hallo, M82A1, ich bin so glucklich dass du ok bist, aber dass ist so tragisch, dass du glaubst du musst eine Waffe kaufen.

I don't believe in guns. Having a gun in the house only adds to the danger in my opinion. So someone breaks into your house - well you're set - you have a gun! So what are you going to do? Shoot him? That's called murder. Even in self-defense, I know I couldn't live with myself if I'd taken another person's life. Okay, so you don't shoot him, you just threaten him. What if he has a gun? Or what if he finds your gun before you wake up? I'm sorry, I'm not trying to freak you out at all, and I of course, thank God that you're alright, but I don't believe purchasing a gun is going to solve any problems.

I assume you called the police. They can advise you as to what is best to do. They should send a patrol around your neighborhood if there has been a series of break-ins. I'm a firm believer in gun-controll, and I don't see how having a gun by your computer is going to make the risk of being broken into any less. I personally would feel more scared having a gun in the house, but that's just me. Well, I certainly wish you the best, and I pray that this guy is caught soon.

Viel gluck, und bitte IM mir wenn du Zeit hast. Tschuss!

That should come in handy against that giant squid that lives in my neighbor's pool! Thanks!

But seriously, when could something like that possibly be used in that way?

I know that a gun will not make me feel safer. If anything, it will terrify me that one of my little cousins might come across it and someone might be hurt.

A sword in my opinion would work better.
