Default Pirate who attacks Sausage gets a Three-Game Suspension-WHY???????

The baseball league office can't be this ********. A man who was just joking around and he gets penalized? The girl who fell said she was alright, and he still gets a 3-game suspension. Does anyone else think this is Weird?

Randall Simon should be lucky he's getting away with a fine and suspension.
He really could have hurt that girl if he swung a little lower.
He should also count his blessings that his victim isn't suing him, his team, and Major League Baseball for a ton of cash.

I think the league is just trying to make it look like they're not going to tolerate idiotic behavior by any player on the field, even if no one was seriously injured.

What I want to know is why is this being made such a big deal of, when there have been far worse incidents that have happened that didn't even get half the media attention this is getting? And as far as him hitting a little lower goes, if you watch the tape, he barely even hit her. I don't think he swung hard enough to hurt a fly, much less seriously injure her. What he did obviously wasn't the smart thing to do in this ultra sensitive world we live in, but a three game suspension is a bit harsh in my view.

I wonder if this story would be such a big deal had he knocked down a man instead of a woman? I doubt it.

....and a $2,000 fine. Randall Simon was wrong and exercised extremely poor judgment. I've seen the tape over and over. I can play it on my computer, and he didn't 'barely' hit her. He hit her hard enough to knock her over, causing another mascot to topple as well.
The big deal is that it's against the law to hit people, even if you're just kidding...and if you do, it's best to leave a bat out of it.
Both girls were treated for scraped arms and legs. I know they weren't seriously hurt, but why should anyone have scraped anything over a prank? How would you like to have scraped arms and legs right now? I know I wouldn't.
I saw a recent interview on Good Morning America with both girls, and while they don't want criminal charges filed against Simon, a lawsuit was discussed. When asked about it, the other girl said, "I've had knee surgery before, and I have a soccer scholarship to think about. We're keeping our options open."
The girl who was hit with the bat, Mandy Block, said, "The case is still open." I would bet my last dollar that these girls will end up suing. MLB and Simon have deep pockets.
I'm not saying to nail Randall Simon to the wall, but I'm glad he was penalized. Even he knows he was wrong. He admitted it. I doubt that because Ms. Block is female is the reason this has received so much media attention. The reason is because it was an ugly incident. I don't think you have to be ultra-sensitive to see that it was a disgusting display.
What's more, I think it's lousy that not one ball player helped her get up when it was obvious she was struggling on the ground.
Randall Simon had to receive the suspension and fine--for his actions and to reinforce to others that this sort of behavior will not be tolerated in the future.

Do you think if Simon helped the girls get up, do you think he would have still been suspended? Also did you see the 3 Sausages last night with baseball bats chasing one of the players as a JOKE?

Yes, I think Simon should have and would have been suspended whether he helped the girl up or not, but we'll never know for sure because he certainly didn't lend a hand.
No, I didn't see the three sausages chasing any players. What other people do doesn't affect my take on this anyway. My opinion remains the same.
The girls are changing their opinion about the incident already. This article is from yesterday. Wait until the ambulance chasers get hold of them.

Default Looked to me like

he swung the bat right at her as she passed the dugout. Looked like it on TV, so if said player was joking around, he certainly had good aim. I think he got off too easy!

I'll tell you what Solomon. Put yourself in a costume so awkward that you have almost zero coordination. Then, have one of your friends swing a bat at the the top of the costume, and see how you like it.
If possible, do this in front of thousands of people with other costumed people behind you.
For the record, I don't think Simon meant to hit her body. I think his intention was to throw her off balance and he succeeded.
