Because Im originally from the south and its completely a different world out there. I felt out of place for most of the time I lived there, and I only lived there a year. It took me that whole time to be able to make any friends. I was really an outcast there for a long time.

I think it all depends on which part of California you live in and what you like to do. My sister visited Palm Springs last year and loved it. The weather was nice every day and she said the people there were more open minded than people here in Michigan.

I've always been here, thus I cannot make a comparison.

Every place has good and bad aspects.

Living on the Los Angeles westside:
I am spoiled by the year-round temperate weather. I'm a baby when it gets too hot, too cold, too humid, too dry. True, there is less distinction between seasons, but there are seasons. I like it that way. I can visit places that have the extremes... places that are right here in that same state of California. California has most everything: beach, desert, mountains, farmland. It all depends of which part of the state you happen to be in.

Basically, things seem to be more laid back where I live. Alternate lifestyles are more openly displayed and accepted. People live in a more casual manner.

But, like I said, I see it from the inside out and always have.

California is probably the most diverse state in the Union. A melting pot of people from Asian, Mexico, China, Iowa, lol, even the Irish have a special block or two. The weather varies from mountain snow to desert sun, to the inbetween foothills, to the city of Los Angeles. You can't pigeonhole the state of California.

I lived there when my dad got transferred there for his job. I hated it because I had no family there but my dad and stepmom. I lived in Sacramento, and the part I lived in, there really wasn't much to do. I hated walking like what seemed like 5 miles to school(it probably wasn't that many)

I hate big towns that's probably why. I lived there for 4 years, and not to mention the fact that I went to two different high schools out there.

I love it here in Ohio. Ohio rocks!

The Atlantic! Brrrr, lol. Isn't that cold most all of the time? The beach areas are all up and down the coast. Of course Huntington, Sunset, Venus, Dana Point, and others in southern Cal are some of the famous beaches. In the north though there is the beautiful Big Sur coast, the Humboldt coast, and the San Francisco Bay area. There are lots more that I didn't mention.

There are also great rivers, especially in the north, to swim in. Boy, I'm sold! If I didn't live here I'd move here.

It's HELL.

Hell, I tell ya...HELL!

It's not all beaches and palm trees. Nothing like you see in the movies. Hell, most movies use the same damn two streets as backdrops.
