lmao... my brother's friend was playing chicken in the road today and there was a police car coming and the policeman went to him and asked what his name was and he was like "uh... george" that aint his name and the cop was like "whats your full name?" and he was like "george... finay" and i think the cop went away after that but can you get in trouble with the police if you lie to em like that? lol i was wondering that..

Hmm, good question. I'm not a law expert so I'm not exactly sure. It mind depend on the cop and the situation. Kind of like when you get pulled over for speeding... sometimes a cop will write you a ticket and sometimes they just let it go. I remember a guy got arrested on Cops after giving out his wrong name. But he was going to be arrested anyways. The officer did make a big deal out of it though. It seemed like after the officer caught the guy lying about his name, he put the cuffs on quicker. That may have been the final straw infact. I'm just glad your brother's friend didn't get caught!

Im not sure, but this year at my school people got in trouble if they didnt identify themselves to a teacher when they asked. They got really mad when this one guy ran away from a teacher.

You can probably get in trouble for it if the police officer actually files a report or something because you're with-holding information...

Yes, you can get in trouble. People who use cars to play chicken are likely to get hurt or killed, since anyone who behaves that stupidly once, probably does it regularly. I know people who've been permanently disabled by using a car as a toy. Oh, did I forget to mention, you can also injure someone else?

If a policeman, which is quite a bit different from a teacher, asks you a question and you provide a false answer, you can be fined or imprisoned if the policeman wants it that way and a judge goes along with it. You can certainly be imprisoned until a judge has time to see you. The only mystery to me is why the cop didn't just ask for his license and registration. Your friend seems to have been lucky, but luck won't protect you for very long from bad judgement,
