Question Ward and Fred Rutherford

I haven't seen every episode so can anyone tell me if Ward ever got tired of Fred being so arrogant that he actually told him off or put him in his place? That guy is so annoying!! I would have went ballistic just talking to him!

I can't say categorically no, but I don't remember any such incident. Ward usually went the opposite way and used a mild comeback to blow Fred off, like, "er...yes, Fred."

I don't remember Ward every telling him off either. Ward always took the high road.Man, that would have been hard to do. the way Fred always bragged on Clarence. And tried to put Wally down. Ugh! He bugs me!

I liked Fred, although he could get pretty nervy sometimes. Some of his sayings cracked me up.

I must say, I did laugh at him but like you said he got nervy. I'm not without a sense of humor but I gotta say that I wouldn't have been so decent to him like Ward. I would have lost my temper with him. I might sound like I'm taking this personally but I actually have an uncle that can act like him. When he does I tell him stifle it Rutherford! He just can't believe I compare him to Fred! LOL!!

Default Re: Ward and Fred Rutherford

The closest episode I can think of where Ward is really about to tell Fred off, is one of the earliest ones.

Fred's daughter, Violet, gives Beaver a black eye. Ward doesn't know what kid hit Beaver, and he trains Beaver to be "'gressive" with any kid that wants to be "'gressive" with him.

Ward later finds out that Beaver went over to see Violet, so he and Fred go all over town looking for the two kids to stop the fight. They finally find them on the front steps of the Rutherford house and Violet opens her mouth and has black gum over her teeth. Fred thinks Beaver knocked them out and starts going off the handle.

Ward sees Beaver has gum on his teeth, too, and realized their teeth are fine. Ward thinks it's a little funny. Fred starts ranting at Ward, "Cleaver, ........" Ward answers back, "Listen Fred,....." and then stops himself.

Beaver wonders why his dad didn't get "'gressive" with Mr. Rutherford when Mr. Rutherford got "'gressive" with him?
