I really doubt they end TFOL after two run throughs. They had the MTM show on MANY time, as well as DVD, The Lucy Show, and others. It's been one of their most well received shows. What makes you think they are going to end it??

I have this feeling, I may be deluding myself, but I'm thinking that with all this digital cable, expansions and whatever, sooner or later we're going to get to see all the shows we used to love. If I had any power at all I'd start a network that showed all the great shows of the 80's. I think it would be great. But hey, it's just an idea. I'm also thinking that some researcher somewhere for some TV network comes on the internet and sees that this message board has like 4 times more posts than any of the others and is thinking that maybe they should start showing FOL too.

TVaddict-

I too hope someone sees this site and the amount of posts we have. Maybe we should all go over to the N@N MB and express our feelings about this new schedule. What does everyone else think about that idea?

I just e-mailed n@n, I'm hoping with all of us things could change. But as a back-up, I also asked them that if they are going to put it on at 4:30 in the morning maybe they should consider playing the so-called "controversial" episodes. That would at least be SOMETHING.

This whole "controversial episodes" thing is absolutely ridiculous. The more I think about it, the more annoyed I get. It is a FAMILY show that was aired in the 80's in a time slot for all to see. If they don't want to stir up controversy they may as well air episodes of Rugrats all night long! Why are the standards for FOL different than those of the other n@n shows? They can be rated PG but FOL can't have anything in it that would be too much for an episode of Mr. Rogers? Facts of Life is not Sesame Street! But it is also hardly an episode of NYPD Blue. There is no way there is ANYTHING in those episodes that would be inappropriate for a 7 year old! I mean, I watched Three's Company when I was a kid (I don't now because I'm too mad at it) and I didn't have the slightest idea that there was ever any references to homosexuality. Was I dumb? Probably, but the point is, there is NOTHING they should be worried about showing!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry, but I really felt the need to get that off my chest. ks, this is the other thing that makes me mad besides the VCR thing.

I'm with you a 110%. It's utterly ridiculous that N@N will air shows such as Three's Company, Taxi, All in the Family etc-shows that have PG ratings and people curse every other spoken word. I know many people who don't allow their children to watch Three's Company, because my parents wouldn't let me when I was young either. I don't see why FOL is any different. BESIDES, the FOL 'controversial' episodes are positive ones. I mean Nancy herself said that after the Suicide episode was aired she had a girl write her and tell her she was going to committ suicide but the episode had convinced her not, too. Mindy had the same kind of letter written to her, too! I mean airing these episodes are probably going to be a POSITIVE thing in the long run, because it might really affect someone's life for the best. I wish N@N would just open their eyes and see what a huge and positive impact FOL has on EVERYONE of ALL age ranges. Their standards are ridiculous...

I get fired up about FOL, as well, TVaddict. now if I can only get that dern timer on the VCR to work...

I've been taping from the very first episode, and I've heard that they might show them for a limited time.

Why don't we start a petition if they stop showing FOL to keep it on back-2-back??

Question

OK...

I understand that they are not showing the "controversial" episodes. However, I'm just curious if anyone has seen, in hand or online, the reason(s) WHY they are doing it? I mean, sure, they deal with sensitive issues. But the various comments are correct: There are other shows on N@N that deal with worse. So, who made this executive decision to not show them?? I've been enjoying this message board, but I keep reading about "Oh, it's not this way, I think, because...." I'd really like to know where people are getting this information. I'm not trying to sound like a jerk, but at the same time, N@N *HAS* to have a legitimate reason for excluding the shows. Any thoughts, anyone???
