Question I'm confused too

In anticipating "New Girl" tonight, I got to thinking... The episode was filmed in 1980, which would make Jo 14 years old. So what was she doing driving a motorcycle? (To say nothing of the REALLY fake, fake IDs they must've used in the bar...)

Alot of people ride motorcycles at the age. As for the fake ID's kids do it all them time. Jo was just a bit 'ahead of her age'.
Gotta love Jo!

I read somewhere that Nancy was only thirteen when she got the role of Jo, and in Teenage Marriage, which was a first season episode, Blair says Jo is sixteen. So, Nancy was fourteen when Jo was sixteen, I guess.

Jo and Blair where the same age if I'm not mistaken, but Lisa is three years older than Nancy, so therefore Jo Polniaczek was three years older than Nancy McKeon.

Stanley Roper: I'm sorry Jack

Jack Tripper: Oh, thats ok, what did you do?

Roper: Me? Nothing, I just thought I saw something that wasnt normal, because it was normal, but, now I can see it aint normal, so, everything's back to normal again.

Jack: oh, well, I'm glad for you.

No, I think it's that Jo is 2 years older than Nancy McKeon and Blair is 1 year younger than Lisa Whelchel. I think anyway...

Yeah, because in the episode "Fast Food" Blair says she's 22 (when she's a college senior) and Lisa Whelchel was 23 in 1986.

I agree with TVaddict. It was always my understanding that Nancy was two years younger than Jo and Blair was a year younger than Lisa.

Um, not to sound rude, but... actors don't have to be the exact same age as the character they play. Besides, in my state (Indiana), you can't go into a bar until you're 21. They said they could go in at 18. It's all jacked up...

We don't think they're like, trying to pull a fast one on us by having the actors play different ages, we're just curious as to how old they were when they did it.

And I went to your web site and saw what you put, one thing, you have Nancy as being a year older than Mindy, but isn't she only 1 month older?

jayman75-at the time this episode was filmed the legal drinking age was 18. A few years later is was changed to 21 when the federal government decided to withhold federal highway funds from states until the state raised the drinking age to 21.

I looked up the informatin about the ages of some child actors and was suprised to find out that Nancy was born in 1966 and Lisa was born 1963 and Kim was born in 1968. Mindy born in 1966. So Nancy was 2 years younger than Jo.

Yes the Jo character was 2 years older than nancy herself. And I know several people that rode motorcycles at the age of 14 as well.
