For Immediate Release - Quick! How many twists in a Twizzler? What star got his big break in a fast food commercial? What is America’s favorite sandwich? Following the extraordinary success of breakout series, Unwrapped, Food Network has announced the expansion of this brand and will launch Trivia Unwrapped. The game show, hosted by Marc Summers, premieres Monday, August 25th at 9:30PM ET/PT.
Trivia Unwrapped is a fast-paced "question and answer" show allowing viewers to test their knowledge of food pop culture. Summers leads this fun romp through games, quizzes and retro commercials, while playfully coaxing memories and merriment from viewers and contestants. The winner of each episode could take home a variety of prizes including a lifetime supply of breakfast cereal-and cash! Food Network has ordered 52 episodes of the series, 19 of which are slated to air in 2003. In addition, the network will be premiering 49 new episodes and three new one-hour specials of Unwrapped. "Unwrapped has become destination viewing for many of our viewers," said Eileen Opatut, Senior Vice President Programming and Production for Food Network. "The extension of this terrific brand is sure to satisfy those who have a love for food, trivia and nostalgia." As one of the Network’s top rated programs for the ‘02-’03 season-to-date, Unwrapped is averaging a .8HH rating (9:00PM - 10:00PM, ET/PT). In 4Q ’02 the Monday 9:00PM -10:00PM ET/PT airing increased by 27% in HH rating versus 4Q ’01. Key adult and women demo impressions (000) outpaced the primetime daypart average during 4Q’02. A18-49 and A25-54 impressions (000) were up by +72% and +62%, respectively, while W18-49 were up by +70% and W25-54 improved by +56%. Television viewers of all ages will recognize the multi-faceted talent of Marc Summers, whose on-air career has spanned more than two decades. In addition to hosting Unwrapped and specials for Food Network, Summers is the former host/producer of Nickelodeon's wildly popular Double Dare and What Would You Do? and served as host of History Channel’s IQ Test. Currently, Summers is also host of Game Show Network’s WinTuition. Trivia Unwrapped is produced by High Noon Productions, in association with Get Real Entertainment. FOOD NETWORK (www.foodnetwork.com), the only 24-hour cable television network and website devoted exclusively to all things related to food, cooking, travel, pop culture and entertaining, is now distributed to more than 78 million U.S. households, up almost 9 million from December 2001. FOOD NETWORK ranks first among ad-supported cable networks on year-to-year subscriber growth. With headquarters in New York City and offices in Atlanta, Los Angeles, Chicago, Detroit and Knoxville, FOOD NETWORK can be seen internationally in Canada, Australia, Korea, Thailand, Singapore, the Philippines, Monaco, Andorra, France and the French-speaking territories in the Caribbean and Polynesia. The E.W. Scripps Company (NYSE:SSP), which also owns and operates Home & Garden Television Network (HGTV), Do It Yourself (DIY), and Fine Living, is the managing general partner. |
