I just heard the news that Buddy had died. I liked not only the Beverly Hillbillies but also Barnaby Jones in which he starred in. He even was successful as a dancer as well and appeared in several movies as well, one I remember with Shirley Temple and also the Walt Disney Davy Crockett movies where he was sidekick to Fess Parker in those films. He will definitely be missed.

Rest in peace Jed.
You brought joy to millions of people over the years. The Beverly Hillbillies was a huge success in Australia where all the cast are still greatly loved Simon |

Every time we lose an icon like Buddy Ebsen, I am reminded of the CRAP that is on TV today (although there are but a few decent shows left), and the way things used to be. We were better off then, a lot more happy than we are now. Buddy, Jed, Rest In Peace. You are missed. PS: Jed, say hi to old granny for me in Heaven, will you? |

Buddy Ebson made it look easy but it wasn't. Playing the role of a misplaced hillbilly could have been boringly cliche. He could have come off as to be just going through the motions. Instead, he convinced us that he was Jed Clampette, the head of a household of nutty kin and with nutty neighbors lol. His Jed character is one of my all time favorites in sitcom history!
See you Buddy!

I was lucky enough to receive an autographed card of Buddy from The Twilight Zone trading card series. I also enjoyed watching him on The Beverly Hillbillies & Barnaby Jones. The Twilight Zone episode he starred in was The Prime Mover. He played a man named Jimbo Cobb that could move things just by thinking. A small piece of trivia, Buddy died on july 6th which is also the same day that Ray young died (1999) Ray Young was the actor that played Jethro in the 1981 tv movie The Return Of The Beverly Hillbillies. Max Baer Jr, refused to re-create his role and Ray was given the part.

Only the "young'uns" from the show are now left, who are both in their 60's, and still known mainly from this 60's show. I wish Max Baer could have followed through with his plan for The Beverly Hillbillies Casino while our Buddy was still with us. Perhaps he could still have been up to making an appearance there 2 or 3 years ago.
