Default Elton John Question

I was watching the T Rex video "Bang A Gong" on VH1 Classics and Elton John was playing keyboards on the video. Was he a T Rex band member before going solo? Or was he just participating in this particular video? I tried looking online for the answer but couldn't find anything!

I used to think it was him, too, but I was wrong. It's actually T Rex keyboardist Rick Wakeman. He certainly has the Elton look going, though, but when the song was recorded, Elton already had his own career going, breaking through with "Your Song" two years earlier.

You mean Rick Wakeman, as in the keyboardist for Yes??
It sure looked like Elton!!!

Btw, there was a video by the late 80's band World Party where they featured Sinead O'Connor...I forgot what the video was....

I remember when I was 10, "Bang a Gong" was one of my "rock & roll epiphany" songs...

I just watched the video again. I still believe that it is Elton John! Please someone, provide some proof that this isn't Elton! I can't find anything to the contrary. I would really like to see some proof that that is Wakeman. My brother and I had a friendly argument about this yesterday. He insists it is Elton and I told him that I was told that it isn't. So I rewatched the video and I have to go along with him. That IS Elton!
