July 4, 2003,
Ron Burns was a featured guest on Larry King Live, talking about his mother and father, plus the new coffee table book of pictures he is putting together. There was no release date listed, but keep your eyes peeled!!! |

...Ronnie told HIS side of the story! All I've read were his father's recollections in HIS books. I'd like to know why Ronnie gave up being an actor
and what he's done since.... |

...Ronnie Burns decided to abandon his career as an actor in the early 1960's because his heart just wasn't in it [after all, his father practically pushed him into "the business", after making occasional "one-shot" appearances on "THE GEORGE BURNS AND GRACIE ALLEN SHOW" before his "official" debut as 'himself' in the fall of 1955]. He had other things to do, and he's done them very well.
I WOULD like to read about his parents and home life from Ronnie's point of view (I'm sure his book is as fascinating as Joan Benny's was about HER father and mother and home life). From the books he "wrote" {actually, collaborated with}, George Burns was obviously a very shrewd and forceful man. His best book was "All My Best Friends" [with "Gracie" running a close second]- he minced no words about the people he knew personally and professionally in show business. Even though his habit of retelling certain stories from slightly different vantage points occurs again and again, I know George's descriptions of his home life were somewhat accurate, and that includes his relationships with Ronnie and Sandy. Now I'd like to hear about it from Ronnie's side! |

It's been nearly three years, folks. I doubt that book will ever happen.

Ronnie died in 2007? I knew he passed away for I read the obit but thought it was 3-5 years ago. Boy does time go fast. As for acting, Ron might have felt it was hard profession. His dad and mom I sure helped in the show but when you have to struggle on your own, it may have been hard for well know son to follow on. Oops somehow thought I was on the
"why ronnie didn't continue in show biz post". |
