Sad Jim Morrison

I keep forgetting there are people alive today who DON'T know about the bright shining lights of rock & roll......BEFORE there was Blink182. And O-Town, of course.

Even though Jim Morrison was a rather "dark" figure...

He also wrote the words to their songs. I've never been able to quite work out if he participated in writing the music, but since he didn't really play an instrument, perhaps not. There's a good book about "The Doors," called "No One Here Gets Out Alive." The movie about The Doors was made from it. RIP, Jim.

Actually Robby Krieger wrote a lot of their songs. He wrote Light My Fire and Touch Me for example. Jim was really adamant about all of the Doors getting writing credits. He always stressed that they were a team and he did not like to be singled out as lead singer or songwriter. Anything that they ever recorded was always accredited to "The Doors". He was a real stickler about this! As for the mucic end of things , that was usually left to the musicians of the group. ( which Jim wasn't) He did write a lot of their lyrics. Especially anything to do with snakes, lizards, etc.

I seem to recall that JM may have provided some assistance or advice in the writing of "Light My Fire." By the way, there is a song in which Jim explicitly says something to Robby by name. Do you know which one?

It sure was!!! When they go to an instrumental part of the song, Jim says, "Take it, Robby."
