Does anyone here understand this quote? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I was at work today and in the back kitchen there's a bulletin board with all stuff on it. Somebody put up this quote that said "The more you complain the longer God let's you live". I thought about it for awhile and it STILL doesn't make sense to me. It had a name after it for whoever said it, but I can't remember the name. So, does anyone get it?

If you complain then God will make you live with the stuff you complain about longer to punish you? Maybe.. i dunno.

Hmm, good guesses. But I'm thinking wouldn't God punish you by dying early. I just don't see how living longer could be a punishment. Well, i guess it all depends on how your life is.

If God thinks hes gonna make me live longer cause i'm unhappy then he is dead wrong. Cause I'm killing myself tonight. I'd rather be dead then live an unhappy life.

It means the longer you complain about the things in your life and how you hate the world, yadda, yadda, yadda. You will live a longer and more miserable life until you finally accept the world as it is. Hence, my problem.

Maybe it means that acting on your environment instead of letting it act on you is a survival strategy. Maybe it doesn't. But it might be like, if you go to the doctor and report a pain, you might catch a disease early. Maybe I don't know what I'm talking about.

Also, even humorous references to killing oneself, as in a previous post, are a bit worrisome. I'm assuming it was a joke.

Yeah, but something like that you should NEVER assume it's a joke, just to be safe. If it IS a joke, it's not funny!

It was not a joke. I'm sick of hearing people say...

'Oh my life is so bad' You don't know what a bad life is until you have walked in my shoes.

So if i don't come back tomorrow you'll know i was not joking.

I have gotten to know you a little bit through your posts and I think that would be a loss to the world. Is your life situation so bad? Why don't you discuss it with us? This can be a good place for you to vent for even serious problems. We can all put our heads together and come up with some answers. Even if your situation is bad, a few years from now, your situation might be completely different.

A loss to the world? I seriously doubt that. My problem is..I hide my real life behind lies. Here is my life story. So to all the people on here who think they have a bad life maybe we ought to switch places.

When i was 18 months old my real father died of cancer. My mom remarried this drunk assh*le (Who was hispanic) He would drink every night and beat on her, I'd lay in bed at night listning to them fighting and him smacking her around. Once he even put her in the hospitle. Every time she would leave him, a few weeks later she would crawl back to him. He even hit me and my sisters or he would make us stand with our hands up for 2 and 3 hours at a time. When i was 12 years old he moved us all to Texas and divorced my mom, leaving her with three children to take care of. My mom had to work 3 jobs to support us. And he started screwing my aunt. When i was 16 me and my mom had to live in a motel for a year and whenever we did get our own place we only stayed there for a month cause we couldn't pay our bills. So we had to go back to the motel. Then my oldest sister got married and pregnent and my middle sister was sent off to a foster home cause she thretened to kill us. After my sister had her baby her husband got deported and she ran off after him leaving her child with us (So he's not really my son. But i consider him mine cause i always take care of him.

sorry i lied about that) And now my mom has full costody of him. We now live in a house that my mom is buying but it costs 50.000 and its getting hard for us to pay our bills because my mom does not make alot of money. Thats why i got a job, to help with the bills. But our water bill just came and it is 60$ and if we don't pay it in 4 days our water will be shut off. We don't even have cable enymore cause we couldn't afford it, Our computer is about ready to crash and we can't buy another one. Thats pretty much my life.

Who wants to live like that? I sure as hell don't. I'd rather die then live the way i have to.
