Default Ugh....GSN's Newest Endeavour in the Fall....

-----
Game Show Network Adds New Video Game Programming Block in the Fall During Fringe Time

Network Acquires Popular Video Game Programs GAME SAUCE
and GAMER.TV From Gamer.tv Limited

GSN Is Searching for an Interstitial Host

Network Will Produce Its Second Documentary Featuring Video Games
for Premiere Night Kick Off

SANTA MONICA, Calif. and LONDON, June 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Game Show
Network, the world's number one channel for games on television, is broadening
its programming slate to include, for the first time ever, video game-related
programming.
Two popular video game programs produced by the UK's Gamer.tv Limited,
GAME SAUCE and GAMER.TV, will anchor a new hosted video game programming
block. A soon-to-be-named host will provide viewers with up-to-the minute
video game news which will air in a wrap-around format between the new series.
Launching in the fall, the block will debut 5-7 PM ET/2-4 PM PT on Thursdays
and be repeated on Saturdays and Sundays at the same respective times.
To kick off the new programming on its premiere night, GSN will produce a
documentary focusing on video games. The video game documentary will be GSN's
second. GSN's first documentary, BIG BUCKS: THE PRESS YOUR LUCK SCANDAL
garnered the network's highest ratings ever. Specific content surrounding the
video game documentary will be announced at a later date.
In making the announcement, President and Chief Executive Officer Rich
Cronin said: "We are determined to provide programming that is distinctive to
our brand, but at the same time expands beyond traditional studio game shows.
We've been eyeing video games for quite some time and we were extremely
pleased to obtain these two high-end programs. The video game market appeals
to our younger audience and is the perfect complement for our industry leading
interactive television."
GSN, now in over 51 million homes, will air two half-hours of GAME SAUCE
and one thirty minute episode of GAMER.TV in the block. GAME SAUCE and
GAMER.TV shows will be original every Thursday. Both shows are topical and
will present that week's hottest video game news and products. Additionally,
GSN's host will report on the latest up to the minute news in the world of
video games from such Southern California locales as Venice Beach, skateboard
parks and arcades.
"We're delighted to be able to announce this distribution deal with Game
Show Network, which will allow viewers in the US fantastic access to two of
Gamer.tv's best loved shows," added Gamer.tv CEO Chris Bergstresser. "GAME
SAUCE and GAMER.TV have a loyal following around the world, and we're very
much looking forward to welcoming Game Show Network's viewers in the States to
join them."
The video game block also presents the network with numerous product
placement opportunities. Michael Sakin, GSN's Senior Vice President of
Advertising Sales, is actively pursuing software developers, soft drink and
fast food companies, wireless cell phone distributors and the automotive
industry for product placement integration opportunities.

No wonder they call it the FRINGE time. It's on the fringe of sanity, right up there with "Spike TV". Memo to GSN: You're not G4. You're not TechTV. You're not even GAS [Games and Sports sorta includes Video games] You're *GAME SHOW NETWORK*.

On Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays, about the only thing on GSN I'll even CONSIDER watching is Dawson and Combs FF. On Wednesdays and Thursdays, it's the vertivision blocks, and said FF's. On Weekends, CS, BB, PYL, WoF, J!, the FF's.

And NOW, three days out of seven, I can't even watch said FF hour (Thursdays, Saturdays, Sundays will air the VG block)

It just gets worse people. Anyone who can't see that now is living in their own private "Matrix", or thereabouts.

I mean, geesh. Remember the good ole days of 2002, when Dating Game, TattleTales, B&W PW/Color PW/P+/SP, Body Language, and all other kinds of goodies aired on the network. Or even later that year, when Syndie WML, Every TTTT (Except the 2000 version), all the Passwords, SYN '72 IGAS, etc all ran on tnetwork.

IF anyone needs me, I'll be watching GAS. A REAL Game Show Network.

I hate video game...except for the ones based on GAME SHOWS!

And damn them for taking off Feud 3 days. Now I'll have to do something constructive. Maybe.

Geez...all I watch now is Feud and Match Game. 1 hour a day. In the fall...0.

The thread was deleted for a couple reasons.
#1. The thread was getting way out of hand. People were swearing, flaming, and being irrational.
#2. A member had to be deleted and when they do that they have to remove all of that member's posts. That particular member started that thread.

I am not thrilled with this at all. I've wanted GSN since it first came on the air back in '94. I wanted to be able to see the shows that I hadn't seen since my childhood like The Joker's Wild, Tic Tac Dough, old episodes of Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, Bullseye, classic Price Is Right, and many others. I finally got it last year and have not been very pleased with it. All the shows I wanted to see had already been taken off and now the network is just getting way too out there.
