Default Is it really true that if a sitcom DVD doesn't say COMPLETE Season, that means it ...

edited? I didn't pay attention to the word (Complete) on the DVD case.

I really and truly don't know, Solomon. I just bought the Mr. Bean tv show, and they have on the box, 'The Whole Bean'. Let me find a pic of it. While Amazon is loading, I'll just finish my post up. Okay, I haven't saw some of these Bean eps in quite awhile, so I wasn't able to identify all the edits. However, I can name two that I really noticed. In the Bean Xmas ep, Bean wins this turkey. They were having some sort of contest, so if you guessed the turkey's weight, you'd win the turkey. Bean gets a scale and he gets on top of the scale, subtracts his weight from the number on the scale and tells the guy holding the contest how much the turkey weighs. He got the total right thanks to the scales. They left that part out completely on the dvds.

Another scene I noticed, can't remember the name of the ep, but Bean is fixing up his place. This store is having this big sale and Bean wants this chair that's on sale. He has to compete with this elderly couple in order to win it. So he does all these things to the couple, he makes the chair fold up on the elderly lady. You know, he does stuff like that, completely left out that part, also. It just shows Bean going into buy the chair and then coming out with the chair. No competition part at all.

So as you can see from the above pic, it does say Whole Bean. Yes, it does have all 14 eps, but we got some missing parts, so I don't really count it as a whole. Ah well, I'm happy to even have it out on dvd. I'll just keep my recorded eps, so I can see the stuff they edit out.

The Mr. Bean thing is easily explained.

Can't remember where I read it, but the explaination for it is that these are the Bean shows the way Rowan Atkinson had originally envisioned them, and the way they aired in england. Scenes were added to fill them out for the American airings that were never originally intended to be in the episodes.

When the DVDs were put together, the original versions were the ones mastered to DVD.

And as for the "Complete" thing... the Star Trek box sets do not say "Complete" on them, yet are full and intact, while Family Guy Volume 1 says Complete Season 1 and 2, but there are two very noticable edits to people who watched the show originally.

Ah okay, thanks for explaining the Bean sets.
