Default Basic Cable, Digital Cable, or Satellite?

My parents are debating changing our television provider and are looking for information and opinions. So, what should we get?

*Basic Cable
*Satellite (either Dish or Direct)
*Digital Cable

If possible, note pros, cons and special channels of each.

Depends on the company. Satellite is good but you would have to get a separate receiver for each set and that can get expensive from what I have heard. You also can't get local channels. Digital Cable is good. My family has it and it is better than satellite and has all the good channels, at least over here (the cable we use is Time Warner Digital Cable)

Actually, with Directv you can get local channels, it just costs ten dollars more. Satellite is okay, but that's pretty much my only option. I live too far out to have cable.

Well, either way, digital cable or satellite is better than basic cable. It just means that you will have to pay more per month with either of those two than just regular basic cable.

Satellite kicks butt! And I can get locals for $6...crystal clear. Cable swears it's all digital, but I've heard it isn't. Satellite is. And the only time it goes out is during heavy rain, and that's not for long. I remember sitting and waiting like 4 hours for cable to come back. Argh.

I have basic cable which is good, but I may be switching to Digital. For a few bucks more than I pay for cable I can get more channels. Why I need more channels, I don't know. Just keep TVLand and I will be happy.

We switched to Direct TV satillite 2 years ago. I like it much better than cable. Our Cable company was upping the prices constantly and they have a monopoly in our area so they can get away with it. I get more channels with Direct TV and all around I think it is a better system!

I have Direct TV and I really like it, much better than the basic cable we had. We pay more, but we get more (and better) channels
