Default Movie Stars that went downhill (movie wise)

Can anyone name any movie stars who started out with really good movies but in time started doing not as well done movies.

I think J-lo could apply, I really liked her in selena at the start of her career and now she's doing scrap work.

Charles Bronson went from B movies to A movies, and then down to very low budget movies.

Mira Sorvino and Marisa Tomei are both Oscar winners but neither have had a "hit" movie since!

Angry hmmmm

Bela Lugosi is THE ultimate example of a movie star going downhill, I think he was afraid, that if he turned down a role again he'd regret it if the film became successful- because HE was offered the role of Frankenstein's monster before Karloff, and lived to regret it. However- i just think he was over-rated anyway, I think he was famous cos his accent, and he looked creepy- in his later films when he tries to look horrified, it just looks funny

Shelley Winters appeared in good movies in the 1950s and the 1960s but in the mid-1970s, her career basically went downhill. Henry Fonda had a role in a lot of great films but in the 1970s, his career went downhill. His last few movies included the B-movie disaster film "City on Fire" and another awful disaster film called "The Swarm." Ava Gardner was another case. All three actors/actresses appeared in the same movie "City on Fire" which was riffed on a very early episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000.

You are certainly right that his career went downhill, largely due to typecasting as Dracula, and, indeed, he died a heroin addict. Your explanation of his fame may not be the whole story, though, inasmuch as he was a well respected stage actor in Hungary before he came to the United States.

I think Jennifer Lopez did some good ones, like Selena and Anaconda but the ones she's doing now are a lot alike

What about Cuba Gooding Jr.? I mean he won an Oscar for "Jerry Maguire",and now he's making movies like "Snow Dogs" and "Boat Trip".

Kim Novak made some good films in the 50's and early 60's. Her movies went downhill after that until she finally left show business altogether.

Robert Downey Jr. for obvious reasons, despite a lot of talent.

What is going on with Alec Baldwin?

I just saw him in a made for cable movie last night (Second Nature), and his last major work has been in TV production for cable (Path to War, Nuremberg), voice overs (Royal Tennenbaums, Final Fantasy) and smaller supporting roles (Pearl Harbor, Outside Providence, State and Main).

What was his last major motion picture starring role - I mean one of the lead 2 actors?

The Edge (1997) and Ghosts of Mississippi (1996)

Charlie Sheen was an A-List actor....

I've always liked James Spader, but he's not in any blockbusters these days.

Rob Lowe started out on the big screen, but the scandal put an end to that.

It looked like Vince Vaughn was going to be a contender, and I was glad because I like him. I caught him in Old School recently.

Where have Meg Ryan, Annette Bening and Kim Basinger been?

I'm glad Ray Liotta is on the comeback trail. I caught, Narc, and he was fantastic. It was nice to see Jason Patric in a popular movie again too.

I think there are only so many choice roles, and the younger generation takes over and only a few survive the age thing. DeNiro, Walken, Hopkins, etc.
