Ideas for a movie - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I have an idea for a movie- it may already be one- i don't know. I just thought of this one day. I'd like to hear some feedback.

Okay the movie would be about this guy who is in training to become apart of a "religion" called Enlightenment. He is training to be an "inner-demon" cleanser (or something of the sort). But while he is training he notices that people who were apart of Enlightenment are committing suicide and that his mentor is actually causing people to commit suicide or murdering people (and trying to make it look like suicide) who try to leave the Church of Enlightenment. The movie would focus on the trainee's struggle to get information on Enlightenment and it's methods and proof that the guy (call him a priest for now) that is killing people. But he has to get all this information secretly because he doesn't want his actions to look suspicious because then he'll be caught and he can't stop training and leave the Church because then the "priest" or his men will kill him.

What do you think- could it make it? It was just an idea i had. please feel free to add on to it or to post your own ideas for a movie. Thanks for reading

Just curious, is the story set in modern times, or in the future?

I think it could make it- with the right script and detail to suit the film. If you were to send it away- would it be Hollywood or to a tv network. Although I think most movies should be given the big screen chance as well as tv, if it didn't make it in cinema, I could definitely see it as a popular 'must see tv' mini-series/
