Default Different Sandra?

As everyone here knows if they don't already, the part for sandra was between Sabrina Lebeauf and Whitney Houston(yea the singer). Does anyone think Whitney would have done better, or was Sabrina right for the part.
I would say Sabrina Lebeauf was the best for the part but that's because i can't see whitney houston playing the part, but her image back then when the show first started was totally different from how it is now.So i couldn't say Whitney, but who knows?

Your correct that Whitneys image in the 80's was different, she had this shy sexy look going on. I do think that Whitney would've been all right in the early years of the show because Sandra's character was an innocent college girl that was madly in love with a man, there wasn't much focus on Sandra. However as the show progressed we start to see more of Sandra and Elvin and this is where I think Whitney would blow big time. Especially in the scene when Sandra thought that her mother and Elvins Mother stole her babies. Sabrina acting was great, I couldn't imagine Whitney being any funnier than Sabrina when she busts through the door and "wails" Cliff head off

I think that Sabrina was good as Sondra because Whitney is a singer and she probably would not have been able to be on that much becauseshe would always be in the studio producing albums and stuff like that. Plus I don't think that Whitney would've been good as Sondra, Sabrina played Sondra good

Yea, that's true, Sabrina did look smart. And the acting ability of Whitney probably wouldn't have been able to cut it after a few years, even though Sondra didn't have too much time on the show in the earlier episodes.
But Whitney's rising fame might have opened up Sandra's role and make it more diverse earlier in the seasons. She would have brought more attention easier.

Whitney seems more outgoing than Sabrina, but I don't think that Sondra's character was meant to be outgoing, it was probably meant to be the smart one.

That's true, but when i meant Sandra would be more open, i meant that there would be more of a storyline with her. Rather than the really dim one they gave her in the beginning. maybe a few more boyfriends, or other friends. Stuff like that. yea, though, sandra was definitely supposed to look like the smart one.

Default I can't even imagine Whitney Houston being Sondra

It is too weird. Whitney Houston doesn't seem to fit the role of Sondra. When I heard that Sondra could have been Sondra, I was shocked. Whitney as Sondra? Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! It is unthinkable!

If Whitney had won the role of Sondra, and her singing career skyrocketed, it would have caused a casting problem on the show.
Another scenario is if Whitney was on a hit sitcom, perhaps she wouldn't have devoted as much ambition to her singing career, and I love Whitney's singing.
I think everything worked out for the best. I don't think Whitney's that great an actress, and Sabrina did a wonderful job with the role.

yea, one of her careers would have had to take a back seat. If she was on the cosby show i think it she would have been on it for a couple of years, and when her singing career got really big, she would have left because she probably would have had a personality problem with Bill Cosby. They probably would have butt heads, if Whitney tried to act too "celebrity- like"and either she would have left or Bill would have fired her.
everything did work out for the best.
