Question How many lives does a genie have?

Ever notice the real inconsistencies about Jeannie's origin? In early episodes, it is made clear that she was not born a genie, but turned into one. In one black and white episode, they even show Jeannie's mortal parents (although I can't understand how they were still alive after all those years she spend trapped in a bottle). However, in much later episodes, Jeannie's mother (Barbara Eden in yet another dual role) is shown as an actual genie! I still can't figure that one out.

Talking

Maybe you should think of it this way: the first way was the REAL way; and the later way was simply a physical manifestation of her becoming schitzo, and splitting into more than one personality --literally!
Since all were played by BE, then, as opposed to the earlier ones.

This way, BE's J/"Mom" could be angry at TN for various things; and evil/sexy/smarter brunette J was the opposite side of naive/sweet/a little dumb blonde J, as opposed to the smarter B&W 1st season J

Plenty of shows back then had inconsistencies, they weren't taken that seriously and they just assumed the viewers didn't either.

The continuity changed, it was really as simple as that.

Though in the b&w episode, he mother LOOKED like she was wearing a genie outfit, so I wasn't totally sure she was not a genie.

Default Inconsistencies were extremely common back then!

Old thread, but definitely worth resurrecting for the newbie series fans.

While today's shows have someone who checks every script and show for continuity, that wasn't the case back in the 1960s. Sidney Sheldon and NBC had this show on a pretty tight budget. Things like color in the first season and continuity checks were non-existent. Shows were written by various people who were given a basic sketch of the show, maybe they were able to watch an episode or two (the way I understand it), and so a lot of inconsistencies popped up.

You'll also see some inconsistencies in the costuming. Periodically, Majors Nelson and Healey will show up with a uniform hat that is all wrong for a Major, or they're wearing their awards in the incorrect order (probably only another Army or Air Force officer would notice those).

Then there are mistakes in the credits, where they didn't even get Anthony Nelson (they listed him as Wilson once), and spelled Roger Healey incorrectly (it finally settled into two e's).

Wow that's a pretty big mistake to get the co-main character's name wrong lol
