Default Evening Shade or Coach?

Both shows were about football coaches. Wood Newton was a high school coach while Hayden Fox was a college & later pro-football coach. Evening Shade was a really good show, I always thought that "Coach" was to dry for my taste.

Coach will do circles around Evening Shade. It was better written, the acting was superb especially Jerry Van Dyke as Luther. I was glad that he did not get a spinoff because his character fit right in with Coach and personalities on that show. It was good to see Jerry Van Dyke finally escaping the shadow of his brother Dick and getting the long overdue fame that was deserving of.

If anyone was a hottie was Carey Carey and Shelley Fabares. Shelley Fabares would do circles around Marilu Henner. Shelley Fabares definitely aged gracefully. Unfortunately her recent health issues took a toll on her. The last season and a half when she straighten her hair Shelley looked a lot younger.

1. I agree with you about Luther. I am glad that he stayed where he was! So many times when a character leaves a series to get his own show can leave a show flat and dull. Which would have surely happened to Coach! The banter and rapport between Dauber, Luther and Hayden was the essential part of Coach's success!
2. You mean Clare Carey, right? She is a cutie!
3. Yes, Shelley looks much younger with straight hair. I know she has had serious health problems of late but I have seen pictures of her since and she is still beautiful!
God bless her!
