I thought that last night's episode with Robert Culp as that whacked-out astronaut was very funny, and gave a chance for the "Sandpiper-Aeromass" professional rivalry to be spotlighted (a premise that wasn't really developed as much as it could have been during the series....this episode made up for that).
Do you know what really cracked me up? The closing credits of the episode (where Brian and Joe are doing the "Sandpiper" TV commercial)..... Brian is self-confident (looking and sounding almost like a smooth car dealer)...but did you check out Joe? He's staring at the camera with this weird, pasted-on smile on his face, looking stiff and wooden.... It reminded me of that episode of "The Honeymooners" where Ralph and Norton do that "Chef Of The Future" TV commercial....Norton is cool and calm, but Ralph is stiff with camera-fright. Joe wasn't as bad as Ralph, but he DID look uncomfortable as he was staring and smiling...I just found him to be funny in that bit! (Tim Daly CAN be a real HOOT when given the chance!). |

I love the Rober Culp episode. It's great when Joe is ready to drop "Ace" and then he comes down and gives such a great recommendation for Sandpiper and all the Aeromass customers run over to the Sandpiper counter. And the 'wall stud' game is funny as well. "Blast off".....lol.

Pilotguy,
To help answer another one of your earlier questions about Brian and Joe becoming more of a "partnership" did you notice how the hiring of Ace included a scene where Brian talked about how as partners they discussed everything with each other first before a decision was made. So even if it appears Joe is still in the main leadership role, Brian is now more involved. |

I love the commercial at the end!!! It was so funny!!! Even though Joe was more uncomfortable, they both looked and sounded pretty silly.
