Though she was still eating regularly, Jo's breathing became increasingly laborsome. In the past few days she started to limp and hobble as she'd walk...make it 5 or 6 paces, then drop on her side to pant. Enough was enough for this poor little cat and so we made the painful decision to take her back to the vet's office for the last time. I have felt so tortured with this decision in the past weeks not knowing if it was the right thing to do. Today, I had no chioce but to face that it was. However, in her last display of friendship, Jo died quietly in my arms before we even reached the parking lot generously relieving us of that decision altogether. We sat in the car for about a half hour talking to her, stroking her nose, saying our goodbyes and laughing through tears about how she stayed true to her defiant, bossy character right till the end. "Nobody's gonna put me to sleep...that's it, I'm outta here!"

To everyone who has shared their concern and support, I thank you for your beautiful spirit of kindness and sympathy. I lost a friend today, but made a few new ones on the way. It's amazing how a little creature who always asked for so little gave so very much. I love her.

I know exactly how you feel. My dog died Thursday, when I wasn't even in the state. She had bad diabetes and she was staying at the vet's for the weekend. My parents promised not to put her to sleep or give her away while I was gone, but when she came home Monday she kept throwing up and couldn't breathe...Thursday she went into a coma and died. This has never happened to me before and I so know how you feel....it's ******. I'm sorry...

I lost a cat a year ago. It hurts to loose a pet. My cat kept on throwing up foam. The doctor over dosed her on pills. The pills got cought in her throat and she suffacated to death. We paid over $2,000 dollars to try keep her alive. We did get to say good bye to her.

I'm sorry to hear that she has passed on, She is in a better place now, where she will feel no more pain. I know what it feels like. (I went through the same thing with Dizzy.) I'll keep you in my prayers.

I'm sure Jo loved you very much and she probably couldn't have asked for a better mother.

Zoey,I'm really sorry to hear about your cat.I know how painful it is.In Dec. 2000,I lost my dear cat,Molly and I was devastated.You have my deepest sympathy.
