Beaver's Self-Destruction parts 3 & 4

Before I go on with this story, I want to say that this really happened with a cousin of mine. Unfortunately, my aunt and uncle drifted apart instead of makeing them stronger. I decided to write how I feel Ward and June would have handled it. I feel that when parents stick together and back each other up as Ward and June did then most of the time you get a positive outcome.

Part 3

At the dinner table, all is quiet. June is wanting to start a conversation as she looks at Ward.

Ward: So Beaver, What have you been up to lately?
Beaver: Well, you know just the same junk.
June: What's the same junk?
Beaver(confused) Well, mom just junk! Just hanging out with Larry and the guys. Why all these questions?
Ward: Can't we talk to you son?
Beaver just rolls his eyes and doesn't answer.
June: Beaver, can't you answer your father?
Beaver: Yes mother, why can't a guy hang out with his buddies without a bunch of questions? (looks at her angerly)
Ward: Young man, I will not have you act that way with your mother!
Beaver: Yes sir. Sorry mom. I just had a long day and I don't feel like talking. May I be excused?
Ward: Yes son. Do you have any homework?
Beaver: I did it at Larry's. Well, goodnight.
Ward/June: goodnight
Wally: Dad, I have plans with Mary Ellen. Can I be excused?
Ward: Sure son.
June: Don't be late Wally.
Wally: Ok mom,goodnight. (kisses her)
June: goodnight honey.

Part 4:

June and Ward are in the kitchen doing dishes.
Ward: Honey,you ok?
June: yes(trying to stay busy)
Ward:(taking plate from her) Sweetheart let me finish up in here. Why don't you go into the livingroom and relax and I'll join you as soon as I'm finished.
June: Honey are you sure?
Ward: Of course sweetheart. Just let me help you out.(kisses her)
June:Ok thank you dear. (exits)

June is sitting on the couch rubbing her head. Ward enters livingroom.
Ward: June you have a headache?
June: Yes,it's horrible.
Ward: Ok honey,let me get you something for it.
June: How about a glass of wine?
Ward: Are you serious?
June: Yes, I think it will help me relax and sleep better.
Ward: (says affectionately) or it just make you a little frisky, ooh la la!
June: Oh Ward! Is that all you think about?
Ward: Honey, I was just kidding.
Ward gets up to get wine for them.
Phone rings, Beaver yells I'll get it and comes tearing down the stairs to answer it.
Beaver: Hello? Oh, hi Gilbert. What? Yeah, I should be able to help you out. Ok, see ya.( Hangs up)
Beaver: Dad, I'm to help Gilbert with his homework.
Ward: Well, you did'nt bother to ask before you made your plans.
Beaver: Dad, it's still early and he needs help.
Ward: Well son, you should have asked. Your mom and I were right here besides you said yourself you had a long day so I think you need to stay home. Call Gilbert and tell him so.
Beaver:I'll just use the phone in the kitchen.
Ward: that's fine.
Beaver enters kitchen and sneeks out back door.
Ward makes his way back over to the couch with the wine.
Ward:(handing glass to June) Here babe.
June:Thank You.
Ward puts his arm around June. She gets closer and puts her head against his chest.
Ward: Turn around, I'll give you a massage.
June: Oh that sounds wonderful.
Ward: (massaging June's shoulders) Honey, you are so tense.
June:(sighs) Oh, this feels so good.
Ward: (dims Lights) How's that?
June: Why did you dim the lights?
Ward: It's more relaxing,especially when you have a headache.
Bright light is bad on the eyes. (smiles)
June: (smiles back) It sounds like a line to me.
Ward:(chuckles) Well, I just wanted to see if I still have that Cleaver charm.
June: You never lost it,this is very relaxing and comforting.
Ward and June kiss passionately as Wally walks in. He sees his parents in a strange way and slams the door to get their attention.
Wally: I'm home! (shouting)
Ward: Do you have to be so loud?
Wally: Well,I had to get your attention. I thought I needed a crowbar for my parents. Why all the moosh?
June: Oh Wally, your father and I are not just your parents but we are married and love each other.
Wally:(strange look on his face) Yeah, but a guy doesn't want to look at his parents loving each other.
Ward: (laughs) Well,you just remember young man you and your brother are both products of our loving.
June: Ward! watch what you are saying!
Ward:(laughs) Oh, honey I had that talk with him.
June has a horrified look on her face.
Wally: You know I think it's time for me to say goodnight.
Ward and June go back to concentrating on each other. Wally comes back downstairs.
Wally: Where's Beaver?
Ward: He's probably still on the phone with Gilbert in the kitchen.
Wally goes to check. Comes back out.
Wally: He's not there.
June:(stands up quickly) Are you sure?
Ward: Honey let's not jump to conclusions. Is he anywhere else? Let's look around.
After looking with no results, Ward calls Gilbert.
Ward: Hello Gilbert. Is Beaver there?
Gilbert: Gee no Mr. Cleaver. We haven't even been hanging out for a couple of weeks.
Ward: We had no idea. How about Larry?
Gilbert: No, Beaver has new friends now. The only one I know out of all of them is Eddie Haskell.
Ward: Ok, thank You Gilbert.
Gilbert: Sure Mr. Cleaver, goodbye.
Ward hangs up the phone.
Ward: Beaver has new friends now and one of them seems to be one of Wally's old friends,Eddie Haskell. According to Gilbert,Beaver hasn't been with Gibert or Larry for the last couple of weeks. He's been lying to us.
