I got my license relatively late in life. I went through a number of years of getting a lot of tickets and having frequent accidents. Some of the accidents were because I drove too aggressively, and some were just because I was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Eventually, enough years passed that I became less aggressive, and developed some skills for being more careful of my and other peoples' mistakes. Now I have only very rare accidents and essentially no tickets. Pretty much every time I get into a car, I remind myself that I am playing with forces much more powerful than my body and that it only takes a split second of inattention to have an accident. Of course, you can have an accident without even a split second of inattention - there are occasional "no win" situations. With all of the crazy drivers on the road, you just have to be very, very watchful. Sorry about your bad luck today.

Not even four months after I got my license, I totaled my car. Worst day of my life ever. I still feel sick thinking about it. Is everything ok KT? What happened?

well it was a half day with finals and stuff, and since I only had one I left at 9:15 to go to breakfast with people and I came back to drop off something and I was pulling out of the visitors lot at the same time someone was pulling in, and theres not enough room for two cars, and we hit one another, but if anyone was found at fault, it would be her bc I had the right away, but I think we both arent going to file a claim and just get them fixed ourselves so our insurance doesnt skyrocket...im still shaken up....blah

I got my license... June 12th, 2002- 2 days before I graduated. Its been like, 4 days over a year and still no accident. They say you get into an accident your first year but I didnt. No, instead I get pulled over and lose my license. After 2.5 months!!!

I got my liscense 14 years ago and had an accident this past winter in blizzard conditions on a bridge overpass.

I've been pretty lucky, and a pretty good driver I think.

I've had a couple of near misses. I only have my temps now; there's no telling what kind of havoc I'll wreak when I get my actual license.
