This may seem like a trivial point, but I've noticed that in the "Wings" episodes that I've seen since Joe made Brian a partner of Sandpiper Airlines, Joe STILL seems to be the one running the company.
It's Joe who sets up meetings with bankers, tries to get loans so he can buy additional planes and grow the company, etc. In other words, Brian may be a legal partner, but he sure hasn't been acting like one! Is this another classic case of Brian showing his ability to succeed (doing a good job of running things while Joe was off partying) but then falling back into his old lazy, irresponsible ways and goofing off? I haven't seen many of the later episodes....Does Brian take a more active role in running Sandpiper with Joe instead of being "just another pilot"? |

Well, remember, Brian DID give Joe that extra piece of napkin, indicating that he wants to be the less responsible partner. On the one hand, it was a funny joke, but on the other, I think the writers put that in because they knew that Joe would still mostly be running the place.
I'm trying to remember if there were any later eps were Brian took an active role as the co-owner... The only thing I can think of at the moment is two different episodes where Sandpiper was going to be sold, and they needed both Brian and Joe's signatures. I don't think that actually counts as Brian being responsible, but that's all I can think of for now. The interesting thing is, in both episodes, Brian is the one who signed first. Sandpiper still is Joe's baby. |

In the Wingless trilogy, both Joe and Brian attend a meeting to keep Sandpiper alive. Don't worry, they do manage to save Sandpiper, but comedy ensues.

I could be wrong, but I think Brian hires Lowell's replacement....the useless Bud.
