Talking Newby

I'm new here myself. I've not seen any of the Sanford and Son programmes, as I'm a UK resident, but I'm a massive fan of the British classic comedy Steptoe and Son (on which Sanford and Son is based). Incidentally, Harold Steptoe isn't my real name! Heheh.

Steptoe and Son originally started in 1962. It is set in a junk yard in east London run by a father and son team - Albert and Harold Steptoe. The father was very conniving and would fake a heart attack every time he couldn't get his own way. The pilot episode, "The Offer" was so good it was made into a series within the same year, and ran from 1962 to 1965 and then from 1970 to 1974 - the latter being in colour. It was sold around the world and is still very popular today. Many countries have copied and done versions of the original scripts. One of which is America - hence Sanford and Son.

the one episode in which they showed the original show was not that funny. I hope those where not the characters. If so sanford and son did them a great service.
