Post Last Episode

Why is it that everyone hated the last episode so much, (other than the fact that it was the last episode)? This is my first time wastching the series (and I absolutely Love It(!!!)- it's my new favorite show!), so therefore I have never seen the last episode. I was still little when it was on origionally, so N@N is the only time I saw the series, other than once or twice on USA. So, what was terrible about the episode, and what would you have done differently. {Be practical!!!} Thanx

I didn't like the fact that the last episode only centered on Blair and a bunch of characters back at Eastland that weren't even on during the entire run of FOL. Kinda like they were trying to spin Blair off onto her own show.

The worst part for me was that Natalie wasn't even with the other girls and was only shown on a phone conversation from her Soho Apartment.

The only good part of the last eps for me was that it showed that Blair had really grown up and she even gave up her law aspirations in order to save Eastland. Seemed like she was willing to give up her money in order to save something that was important to her. Maybe Jo, Mrs. G and the other girls really did have an impact on Blair. Or maybe I'm just reading too much into it and it really was a bad ending to a great series.

Without explaining it throughily(sp?), just wait until you see it, then you will see how much a let down it is.

the final episode spent way too much time on Blair. Don't get me wrong, I love Blair as much as the next person. But Jo, Tootie and especially Natalie really got jipped.

I think the way they did Natalie was the worst. The last thing we see of Natalie is Tootie hanging the phone up so she can call Jeff. And the final pose was the worst. I can see Blair, Jo, Tootie and maybe even Beverly Ann.... but Pippa!?!?!?! How could Natalie not be in that pose and yet Pippa is? Even Andy should've been in the final shot more than Pippa did. Pippa sucked!!!

Also, I didn't think the new Eastland was very funny. Even if Blair's show would've spun off, I don't think even one of the characters would've been as popular as Blair, Jo, Nat or Toot.

The main reason I think the reunion is so hotly anticipated is because it would bring much better closure to the show than the final episode ever did. The ending of it was a "that was it?!?!?" type of finale, instead of something like Roseanne, Cheers, Mash, Mad About You, Cosby Show or the like that said it's goodbye and let the fans cry with it. Instead of it being a typical (well, typical with Blair) FOL episode and then try to wind the show down in the last 2 1/2 minutes. Just didn't work.

speaking on the Blair spinoff that almost happened. Had the show picked up, I almost wonder if maybe they would've had occasional guest appearances from Kim, Mindy and Nancy (sorta like how Sam, Diane, Woody, Lillith and several of the other Cheers cast members have come back as guest stars on Frasier) would've made guest appearences occasionally. Which might've been a reason why the final episode was so bad, they figured the show would carry on as the spinoff with Blair, and they could make it a little more sad.

Very well said John. I've always thought that if they knew it was going to be the last episode, why did'nt they go off with a big bang? Seriously, Jo, Nat,and Tootie were
probably in the episode a combined 52 seconds. Blair is cool and all(she's my second favorite), but the last episode should of included the core four. They should of brought them together for a last hoorah.
If any one wants a good 'last episode' feel, then watch 'Graduation' or 'The Way We Were'.
Those episodes were way better than the depressing series finale.

The final episode sucked! It had this GOD-AWFUL "Designing Women" music to it which I dodn't understand. It was basically a pilot for Lisa Whelchel's spinoff which never took place. What I hated the most about this episode is that you hardly ever see anybody but Blair! You get to see Jo more than anyone else. You only get to see Tootie at the beginning and end of each episode. Natalie shows up in a phone call at the end. Beverly Ann is only on there at the beginning and end. And heck, even Andy (was on the show for 4 seasons!) was only on there for about 5 seconds at the very beginning. And this beyond anything else, why was Pippa in the send-off pose?
