Default Brian The "Love Advisor"

Last night's episode, "Long Distance Lament", was a silly (but in a GOOD way), fast-paced episode with some good physical comedy....plus it was fun to see nerdy John Putch again (he played Jeff the pilot who Helen finally agreed to go out with). He played a similar role on "One Day At A Time" (he had a big crush on Valerie Bertinelli's character and longed to date her, but she just thought of him as a friend). It seems like his specialty was playing those kind of parts.

Last night's episode, as well as the recent one where Joe dated the 19-year old girl, shows a funny result of the Brian-Alex relationship.....Now that Brian is in a relationship and can't be the wild, single playboy, he's begun giving Joe dating and love advice (as Brian has said to Joe, "To live vicariously through you").

This advising is very funny because Joe is NO Brian! Brian's "Sam Malone"-type advice ("Go ahead and date the 19-year old", "Cancel the date with that girl so you can go out with the sexier one", etc.) simply does NOT work for conservative Joe....and when it DOESN'T work, Joe is hilarious in his frustration and anger: "DAMN IT, Brian! Why did I LISTEN to you?".

This "Love Advice From Brian" is a recent development in the series, and it's a very funny one!

yeah, last night's episode was funny. although, i need to watch it again, because i was falling asleep. hehe. i didn't even edit out commercials, because i was afraid i was gonna fall asleep with the VCR paused. lol.
But yeah, Brian giving Joe relationship advice is really funny. I think it's weird tho that Joe listens to him. You think he'd know by now that getting any relationship advice from Brian is a bad idea. hehe.

I liked the part in the restaraunt when Helen and Joe ended up hiding under the table together. hehe.
and then when Joe tried to use the "walking plant" disguise, like they used to do in the WB cartoons all the time- hehe that cracked me up. That was silly.

I felt bad for that guy Helen went out with tho, because of course she dumped him as soon as Davis came back. aww, that guy was cute. hehe.
i still can't stand Davis tho. he's so annoying.

Joe is a trusting sap....He keeps taking Brian's advice for the same reason that Charlie Brown keeps kicking that football that Lucy offers to hold for him!

(Actually, the fact that Joe DOES keep getting burned by Brian's bad advice over and over again is part of what makes the whole thing so funny!)
