I remember watching this show years back and just getting a big kick out of it. Has anybody seen any re-runs recently. I would like to watch this show again!

As Far as I Know they haven't played Benny Hill on tv for a while. Possibly last year but I don't know if they play reruns. I would love to see his shows on tv, however some stations are cautious cause of its contents, but I grew up on Benny Hill and I turned out fine.
I started watching him when I was 8, My family made it a family tradition, especially when a two hour special would air during the holidays some years ago

If you're lucky enough to have digital cable, there's a network out there called BBC America, I think, who shows Benny Hill reruns.
I used to love that show as a kid - my favorite part were the skits where Benny would be slapping that little old man on the back of the head.

And if you want your Benny Hill unvarnished, as it was originally aired in the U.K. before he was essentially "blacklisted" in his own country: For American fans, A&E Video already has two sets (1969-1971 and 1972-1974) under the banner of Complete & Unadulterated: The Naughty Early Years; a third set, covering the years 1975-1977, will be released next month. If Britons are lucky, Network Video has on the docket two editions of The Benny Hill Annual, the initial sets covering the years 1970 and 1971. Originally due June 20, there's been some delay in these DVDs' release dates.

Yep, BBC America was showing these recently in the states. I got a few recorded at my mom's house but I turned off my cable late last year.

Now, I have noticed that Network Video's U.K. Region 2 Benny Hill Annual sets have something that A&E's U.S. Region 1 Complete & Unadulterated sets don't have: ad bumpers and production slates for each show. The latter part is of interest to me as a researcher, insofar as finding out the production numbers for each edition. This difference means that the shows are registered as one minute (give or take a few seconds) longer than as on A&E's sets.

BBC America shows Benny quite a few times each day. I havn't noticed... Are the episodes shown on BBCA the original versions or the Americanized ones?

As to the syndie episode guide, which details which sketches from which original shows are in each episode, click here. Oh, and doubtless y'all have heard that A&E Video will be releasing the 1978-1981 shows on Jan. 31, to be called Complete & Unadulterated: The Hill's Angels Years - Set 4: 1978-1981. |

But anyway . . . I must advise that the Golden Greats DVD series has been taken out of print, which means that A&E may yet get around to putting the period in question in future sets. Besides, not all of the shows from 1985 and 1988-89 have been put out on DVD - though they were all on VHS as you said. (It appears HBO Home Video now handles VHS releases only, while A&E has the DVD rights, given the latter network's deal with Thames/Fremantle.) But I wonder, after this coming set, how the remaining 17 shows will be marketed. Will they be split into two sets (nine shows from 1982-1985 and eight from 1986-1989)? Or as one whole set? And which one will have the Australian Down Under show, given that it's not in the coming Set 4? |

Furthermore, I knew that the Golden ________ tapes were actual episodes, based on what was listed on the back of each tape. I can see why the 1986 series was passed over - because of the Crazy World compilation. I hope the TV.com episode guide was very helpful in that regard. And as for The Lost Years DVD set dealing with his BBC years: I've noticed that on some players, the sound on the 34-minute bonus material doesn't play when you start it up, and you have to touch a remote button along the lines of "Audio" a few times to make it heard. A quirk in authoring, no doubt. Other players play the sound on that bonus material with no problem. |
