Good question!

I have so many favorites that it is just hard to choose some. However, here's a couple from each format:

The Vivian Vance Years (1962 -1965 seasons)
"Lucy Is Chaperon", #27
"Kiddie Parties, Inc.", #37
"Lucy Enters A Baking Contest", #58
"My Fair Lucy", #79

The California Years or "Lucy At The Bank" Years (1965-1968 seasons)
"Lucy Gets A Roommate", #114
"Lucy Gets Caught In A Draft", #117
"Lucy the Babysitter", #126
"Lucy Meets The Berles", #137

I think my favorite from the last three seasons was when Lucy saved the small town from developers (with the song about "Main Street, U.S.A.").

As far as the earlier ones, I can remember as a kid laughing hysterically when Lucy and Mr. Mooney tried to get the lease away from a sleeping Viv with a fishing pole. And Viv pretending to be asleep when she wasn't.

I also like the Halloween one where Lucy dreams she's a witch and Mr. Mooney's a vampire.

I know the one where they put in a shower is a classic, but I can't get over the dread of being in such a situation. The same is true when Lucy is in the meat locker in "I Love Lucy". Both situations are for me too frightening to laugh at.

From the few eps I have seen...

1st format...

"Lucy and Her Electric Matress"
"Lucy Takes a Job at the Bank"
"Lucy and Viv Put in a Shower"
"Lucy Waits Up for Chris"
"Lucy the Stockholder"

2nd format...(in no particular order)

"Lucy and the French Movie Star" (her drunk bit is ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS "I am a very competary secretant!" "What time do you sail?" )
"Lucy Gets Trapped"
"Lucy and Paul Winchell"
"Lucy's Substitute Secratary" (mod decorator is also hilarious "I have a little walnut that looks worried")
"Viv Visits Lucy"

That was one of best episodes from the 2nd season. The installement is called "The Loophole In The Lease", episode #40.

That was fascinating episode! It was great to see the cast in different costumes for once. Anyways, the title for 'Halloween' show is called "Lucy and the Monsters", episode #75.

Yes, when i saw that one recently, i wasn't looking forward to it because of the subject matter, but you're right, what a great change of pace episode!

I have so many favorites that its almost impossible to choose:

But from the Vivian Vance years:

1. I forget the title of the episode but its the one where she is a hospital helper and wrecks havoc trying to get Mr. Mooney (who is in the hospital with a broken leg) to sign a check so she can buy a new dress for Chris. The scene where she maneuvers the wheelchair with the ever building keystone cops (nurses and doctors) chasing her all around the hospital is nothing short of sidesplitting. At one point, Lucy is chasing them!! (My sides ache whenever I watch this episode.) Lucy was brilliant in the wheelchair.

2. I agree with "Lucy and the Monsters". I just loved this episode with my favorite part being when Lucy and Viv ask the mirror on the wall who the fairest of them all is. The mirror falls and breaks and Lucy shrugs..."I guess its a toss up!" Oh, I love it.

3. "Lucy and Viv Put up a TV Antenna".....my favorite line from this episode is when Viv is trying to balance herself on the roof and she says "Oh Lucy, I feel like I'm in the circus" and Lucy retorts" "Yeah, you look like one of the elephants".

4. "Lucy Fakes a Job a the Bank"......the one where she has the whole town in an uproar because they get the mistaken idea the bank is failing. This episode is superb...especially when Lucy pushes the button to make the hole in the floor descend with Mooney, then Viv doing the same thing a few minutes later. Then, of course, later on with the whole town coming in....especially the bride and the wedding party coming in to withdraw all their savings. But my favorite part of comedy timing is the 'toaster' bit when Lucy is trying to talk a customer into opening up a savings account and she says "Do it today, sir, you'll never know when an opportunity like this will pop up again" and at that instant pops up a pass book from the toaster....her split second comedy timing is absolutely brilliant. I laugh just thinking about it!!

And from the California years:

1. Lucy and Carol Burnett (The episode where they are airplane stewardesses.....oh that was hilarious. Especially the part where Lucy destroys the 'movie' that was going to be shown and as she is gathering up the spilt film from the floor says nonchalantly ..."Oh, well.....you wouldn't have like the movie anyway. I saw it ....it wasn't any good......"

2. I forget the title of this one but its the one where the Countess Framboise decides to open a charm school and transforms Lucy (Eliza Lumpwamper) into a lady with Reta Shaw as the Fat Lady and her milquetoast husband. The scene where Lucy eats caviar (which she is allergic to) causing her to start itching and she asks the countess to draw a map on her back (as an excuse to scratch her back) then the climax where they unveil a sculpture and Lucy is hiding behind it scratching her back on the sculpture.....(come to think of it I think this episode was from season three....).

But anyway, its been fun recalling my favorite episodes from this series.

Thanks,

Larkin

Actually, it's "Lucy TAKES a Job at the Bank" not Fakes. I know the Columbia House tapes list it as Fakes, but it's definitely Takes. I mean, Fakes doesn't even make sense really...

Also, the last episode you listed is from the last season (64-65) of the "Viv" years, not the California years...
