Default Brian and Alex - UPDATE

In watching the recently shown episodes of "Wings", I can't help but notice how SAD the Brian-Alex relationship seems to have become.

After dating and having sex for only a short time, they seem to have become an "old married couple"....or at least they ACT like it!

There seems to be no real passion in their relationship at all, and after hearing Brian talk to Joe in that episode where Joe dates the 19-year old girl, it's obvious that Brian is not very happy in his relationship with Alex...at least from a "passion" standpoint. (It appears that Alex has little or no interest in having sex with Brian).

I know that there is more to a relationship than just physical sex and passion, but it's just so sad to see Brian so obviously unhappy about that part of the relationship between Alex and him.

For some reason, I get the impression that YEARS after Joe and Helen were married, things were still HOT between them in the bedroom....they just strike me as that kind of a couple!

It just seems like Brian is being taken for granted by Alex...in several different respects....and it obviously bothers him. The way he talks in recent episodes, he's starting to sound like "I Love Lucy's" Fred Mertz!

My apologies if I've offended any readers of my previous post....

In reading over my previous "Brian and Alex" message, it appears as if perhaps I've stressed the sexual aspect of their relationship a little too much....

That's just ONE part of it that doesn't seem to be going well. In general, there appears to be an overall boredom or "rut" that their relationship has set into....like when Roy and Antonio had that lost dog, and Alex was fawning and kissing the dog like crazy...and then she walked by Brian, tapped him on the shoulder and casually said, "See ya!" while walking away. That scene told a LOT!

Yes, I'm afraid that Brian and Alex ARE turning into Fred and Ethel Mertz!

OK, I give up...I take it all back....

I just watched my videotape of last night's episode "Sleepless In Nantucket" (the one where Brian and Alex move in together and drive each other crazy).

Their relationship was really brought to a head in this episode, and it seemed to spark some real fire and understanding between them.

It's good to see that they're back on track as a couple for now....with the emphasis on "For NOW"!

(You just never know what will happen on "Wings" from one episode to the next!)

lol that's funny that you completely changed your mind. hehehe!
But yeah, I still think Brian and Alex make a good couple. they have their problems and doubts but they work them out, and I think their relatonship gets stronger every time.
and I do think they have some spark between them.

you know what i thought was totally cute? in the episode before last night's... the stupid one about the bad jobs they've all had during the off-season... when Alex was sitting on Brian's lap, there was one time when she was saying something, and Brian just was kind of in his own world, and he kissed her shoulder, and it was so damn cute for some reason, and I was like, "aww they're so cute together." But I dunno.. it's just like before he and lex got together, whenever you saw Brian with a woman, he had to be all over her. And I thought that that little kiss was a subtle way of showing how much he really likes Alex. like, he doesn't have to be all over her all the time. Something small like that can mean more.

sorry if that sounded really lame.
I'm SUCH a TOOL sometimes...

I definately don't like Brian and Alex together. I guess for awhile its okay, but I'm glad it wasn't permenent. Brian seemed to lose his spark, his exuberance, when he's with Alex. And they have zero chemistry together. Its not that I dislike Alex, its just that I don't think Brian is at his best when he's with her.

That reminds me of that one episode (I haven't seen it since back when it was on during the original run, when I was 15 or so, so I only remember it vaguely) where Joe and Helen are on their honeymoon, and they keep trying to go out but they can't keep their hands off each other and they keep going back to the bedroom! Of course, they hadn't been married for years, and it WAS their honeymoon, but it just seems like the passion between Helen and Joe was much more evident than that between Brian and Alex. They just had great chemistry, and of course that's why the writers were able to center so much of the show around their romance.

You know, I think that THAT'S what my problem is with the couple....Alex simply does not bring out the best in Brian. When he's with her he's like a henpecked wimp!

I do agree with you on that- Joe and Helen do have a lot more chemistry together than Brian and Alex.

...But I still think Brian and Alex make a good couple in their own way.
I think I'm a minority here with that opinion tho. hehe.

I think the Alex character is boring. I feel this way because to me I can't believe any of it when Brian and Alex are into each other. It's like they didn't invest enough time with the characters for me to care. There has to be a reason for the audience to care, or everything's out the window. The sooner Alex is out of the picture the happier I'll be. Oh and then great, Casey comes on next, and she's just a whiny idiot. They needed someone good for Brian, and I feel his character was let down. Oh well, it's been over for years.
Sorry, this is just my opinion.

I like Casey better than Alex, but they were both wrong for Brian. I have no idea why they threw Brian and Casey together anyway. They didn't have a relationship, it was just like "Joe and Helen are together, so we'll hang out and sleep together occasionally". I really wished they had paired Casey off with Antonio. That would be been so much better. Brian works best when he's single.

There were times I really liked Alex and Brian together, and times I didn't. Overall I liked them more than I didn't. But it seemed the longer they were together, the more "whipped" Brian seemed to become! And I didn't like that at all! Like someone said, Brian lost his spark, I missed the Brian of old when that happened.
