Question How Did Selena Die?

How did Selena die? Was she shot? or was it more than that?

She was shot by the person who ran her fan club. An elder woman who was believed by some to possibly be in love with Selena. Not sure if that's ever been confirmed. I don't think it has been but a lot of rumors went around suggesting so. At any rate, she grew very attached to her and apparently got a bit too possessive. Selena's father found out that Yolanda had been misappropriating money mailed in by fans for club memberships. I think the day she got shot, Selena had gone to Yolanda's motel room to confront her about the missing money and fire her from the position. A fight ensued which resulted in Selena's untimely death.

That whole story's really sad. I remember watching the movie a few years ago.

Selena Quintanilla technically didn't die from a gunshot wound- she actually bled to death. Yolanda Saldivar shot her, and she was losing blood... But, because her family was Jehovah-Witnesses, they did not believe in blood transfusions. Chris, her husband, was Catholic and was offering his blood. But... her father wouldn't permit it because of their faith.

Yolonda shot Selena because Selena found out Yolonda was stealing the money from her fan club and not giving the fans enything in return and Yolonda knew Selena would turn her in and she would go to jail...And thats what really happened!

What happened to Selena was so sad, I don't know how they could call her murderer a fan...a true fan would never hurt their favorite celebrity, not to mention kill them.

O M G. Are you dead serious? I know movies aren't perfect, but they should have depicted this. I never even heard about this either! I am really in utter shock.

Dead serious. Someone told me that, I can't think of who it was, but they were a very reliable source and certainly wouldn't lie about something as serious as that.

Actually, that is just part of the story. Check this website out:

http://www.chron.com/content/chronic...20/selena.html

It is still a shock to me that her father would request such a thing. I don't want to stomp over anybody's religion because I can be an open-minded sort of gal (well, I can respect other religions, even if I don't agree), but the dad is more of a wackjob than I thought!

Actually, she DID get blood transfusions but her father was unaware of that. It wasnt till after they gave her the blood that Abe asked them not to.

And as for all the rumors about Yolanda being obsessed and what not, I'm not sure whats true but this is what I believe: Since Yolanda had been caught stealing money from the fanclub, she knew she was going to be fired and that Selena would be the one firing her. She also knew that it was the end of their very close friendship and that Selena probably didnt want anything to do with her. So she figured that if she didnt deserve to be around Selena, then nobody did. So her only solution to that problem and her jealousy was to kill Selena so that everyone would suffer a loss, and not just her...but thats just what i thinl. You guys can believe what you want.

By the way, if you guys have any other questions regarding Selena, feel free to ask me. I'm like...a Selena historian...I've been a fan for a loooong time...sooo yeah...lol

Yes, that's what the website I posted said. I wonder if the situation was different, such as, the only way she could have survived included further blood transfusions, if Abe would have agreed to that.

And like the website implicated, a family member cannot dictate someone else's treatment. Even if Abe had talked to them first about "no blood transfusions," the doctor's still could legally do it.

Selena's death was just so sad and tragic. I've seen the movie many times and I've also seen specials on TV about her. Yolanda Saldivar (sp?) was really, really messed up. Ugh that part in the movie where Selena says something like "Thanks Yolanda...you're a great friend" always gets to me because I know what will happen later. I think on one of the specials I saw, they interviewed Yolanda and she denied killing Selena. ...hasn't it been proven already?
