Post What is everyone's opinion of FOL Down Under?

Watching these FOL episodes has been really nostalgic for me since I was about the girls' age when these eps initially ran back in the 80's. I find myself more interested in the show now even though I considered myself too cool to watch many of the shows during their first run back on NBC. Anyway, as one of the biggest 'Jo' fans on this board who doesn't have Jo in her username I must admit that 'FOL Down Under' was a real bore for me.

I was getting into the girls graduating college, moving to California, etc. and this 'Down Under' stuff just kinda ruined the continuity for me. I can't wait until Thursday when they continue Monday's ep with Jo out in California.

The girls were just acting kind of weird during last night's 'Down Under' shows. The Blair I know would never imagine herself married to a policeman. And I didn't understand why they were representing Eastland with the sister school in Australia when they had all already graduated. Jo would never be so dumb as to think that jewel thief was a cop. I even hated the opening music for these shows. I hope N@N never shows these episodes again.

I'm thinking that Nancy McKeon and Kim Fields don't want to do a reunion movie because they are afraid that it will be as bad as the FOL Down Under Movie.

Yeah I agree. The music was totally dorky. And Jo never acts like that around guys! And I forgot what it was but Jo said somethin blairish in the first part! I think they had different writters for it or something. And, the sound track was really weird. I haven't seen fol in paris but I would really like to. Does anyone know if it will be on N@N?

I didn't like either of FOL movies. Paris could've beeen MUCH better and Down Under was like a Nick Jr. movie for toddlers. The jewel theif thing gets boring, and what's with the girls just going around Austrailia like they've been there before? Not to mention, out of all the wonderful graduates of Eastland, why is Jo, Natalie, Blair, and Tootie going to represent them? Just one of the Pippa episodes was better than this!

I didn't like it either...what the heck was up with their background music?? It sounded horrible! But maybe Nick cut out all the good parts.

It's... different.

Everything from the music, to the way it was filmed is different.

Also, why does the movie fit into continuity between the end of season and beginning of season 9? Did Jo come back from California to go to Australia, then go back to LA for the beginning of season 9?

I can't dig it.

I didn't like it. It could have meen LOTS better (if that was at all possible). I just couldn't get into it. I was wondering what was gonna happen to Jo when she left and then they shwo the "Down Under" thing. I don't get it.

Jo

--------

Blair- "We were responsible for the wine."
Jo- "and the beer."
Mrs. G- "How did you get beer?:
Jo- "I got beer."

"What's that disgusting smell? Why Blair, it's you!"

Tootie- "Can we sing?"
Jo- "Sing?"
Tootie- "That's what I do when I'm scared, what do you do?"
Jo- "Slap people."

"I thought you liked me in that way that you like somebody when you like them in that way."

Jo: "I was thinking of doing something different with my hair. "
Blair: "Like washing it?"
Jo:" No, I wanted to get that brainless look you have!"

They showed Facts of Life goes to Paris on TV land about a month ago, so maybe they will play it again. I to thought Down Under could have been a lot better. One thing about it, since it was a movie, it couldn't have a laugh track so that was a little weird since we are used to hearing the laughs.

To: People that don't understand where "Down Under" fits in between the continuty of the 8th - 9th Seasons (1987-1988):

"Down Under" actually aired on NBC about a month (or more?) before the 8th Season (1987) season fianle, so Nick at Nite is just airing it now, it doesn't take place at the same time as it's being aired on NAT.

Just wanted to clear that up ...

I just saw the second part, and I have to admit I laughed when Jo and Blair were running and Blair kept grabbing Jo's sweater. LOL. But...man. Talk about a bad ending. I could have written a better script than that.
