Question Did Anyone Watch The Monkees When It Premiered In Syndication in 1975???

I was wondering if anyone watched The Monkees when it first premiered in syndication in 1975. I have a San Antonio newspaper from March 1976 and The Monkees weren't on a San Antonio station there. If anyone watched it during the mid 70's,did they play it in the afternoons(5 days a week) or did they play it on the weekends???

I remember seeing it as a kid in the mid '70s- it was weekday afternoons, 5 days a week, I'm almost positive. It was on one of the local channels, I think WPIX or WNEW in New York.

I am lucky enough to have watched it in the 60's & early 70's, & liked them back then as did everyone back then. In 1977 a tv channel in another part of the state that we could get here even tho it was kinda fuzzy started showing the re-runs again. I watched them & bingo fell in love with them all over again & became a die-hard fan collecting all sorts of stuff on them. Those were the days...

July 4 we go to see Davy Jones at Colonial Downs! That is gonna be so much fun!

I lived out a childhood/teenage dream July 4th & completed one thing I wanted to do before I die. I have now met all 4 Monkees! I met Davy! Yee-haw! He is sooo HOT!

We had a blast at the Monkees show! I clocked the trip at being 55 minutes from our home via interstate. I did lose $4 on some of the horses mentioned on my friend Arlo's website as being good ones to bet on LOL. They were beautiful horses racing. & There was one that was painted red, white & blue on his white body. A nice sleek chestnut mare too. Some folksinger once did a song called Chestnut mare. I think it was either Neil Young or Van Morrison or John Stewart.

We got front row seats to the left of the stage. (Middle center was taken.) This lady sitting behind me talked to me & it turned out she was a huge Monkees fan & had been to alot of the Monkees shows we'd been to. She'd been to a bunch of Monkees shows. She seemed really nice! She looked like she was in her 40's or 50's. At the end of the show towards the last coupla songs, some people walked under the rope that was in front of the stage area to seperate it from the concert seats so they could get closer to Davy. The lady behind me goes up there to try to touch Davys hand. Guess what Davy touched her hand when singing when she reached out to him! She was so excited that when she went back to her seat she was jumping up & down screaming. When she came by me she hugged me & we were both hugging each other & jumping up & down screaming Davy Jones. LOL! I told Mike I wondered if I could go up to him & he'd touch my hand. He says why not? So I went up there in front of the stage. I reacxhed out to him & he took my hand reaching out to me taking my hand. I nearly died & almost passed out LOL! I got weak in the knees LOL! I was jumping up & down screaming Davy Jones cuz I was so freakin excited LOL! Stayed up there in front of the stage for the rest of the show LOL! Everyone up there was jiving & swaying/dancing etc to the music. Oh yeah he sang alot of Monkees hits & a few of his own & some other stuff like a Van Morrison song...

Well Charlie a Monkees fan we know & his friend David another Monkees fan we know were there. Sandra & her hubby Tom & George who are Monkees fans weren't there. Usually George would've been there so his absence was unusual. We couldn't find Charlie or David after the show but we ran into this Oriental dude we had seen at some other Monkees shows like last yrs shows there. So we hung around with him trying to find Davy. We got to the 3rd floor & finally found a line of folks waiting to see Davy. There was Charlie & David in the line waiting to meet Davy. I knew Charlie would find Davy eventually. Mike talked to some dudes who were drug there by their wives. LOL! Anyway Davy came out & we got to meet him! I got my picture taken with him & took a pic of Mike with Davy & we got his autograph. He seemed really nice but unfortunately these workers there at the horse race track came out & said he'd have to go cuz he was busy & had to something. So we didn't get to spend as long with him as we would've liked & that meant not as many pictures of him as we would have liked. But hey we got to meet Davy Jones & we had a pretty good 4th of July! One bad thing was they only gave him an hr to singer & wouldn't let him do an encore. I guess cuz of the fireworks. Hope you had a great one too!

Billy Ray Cyrus the "Achy Breaky Heart" country singer is coming to Colonial Downs next Fri so since Mike likes him we may go to see him then. I better not bid on any ponies then since I lost $4 on the ponies July 4th.

Nope! I am a Generation-2 Monkees fan. I first got hooked from seeing the repeats on MTV.

In fact, The Monkees didn't even play in my hometown (New Orleans) until summer 1986!

Actually, I watched The Monkees when it first debuted on NBC. Unfortunately, I was so young that I don't remember much of it. Where I really got into The Monkees was when it was reran on CBS and ABC on Saturday mornings from 1969 to 1973. Naturally, I caught what episodes I could in syndication (we didn't have cable, so I had to watch it at my older sister's house, who did have cable).

Yep! In fact, that's where I discovered The Monkees! I was only four days old when the show premiered in 1966, so I kind of missed out on Monkeemania when it was fresh.

To me, it was just a funny show and I enjoyed in that vein. Later, when the band reunited and the albums were reissued, I got further into the musical aspect of it and enjoyed it thoroughly. I don't care whether they played or didn't play the instruments - the songs are good and the Monkees is all about fun! Period.
