According to tvshowsondvd.com, there might be full-length direct-to-DVD animated movie coming in the near future.

There is going to be a movie and it's all because of us and all the other Family Guy fans. FOX was impressed with number of DVD sets sold and with the ratings on Adult Swim. So Family Guy is again revived.

If Fox is so impressed, why not just bring back the series?

A movie would be the equivalent of about 4 episodes- that is nothing.

If they bring back the series they seem guaranteed at least 1 season of good ratings.
And at 20 - 24 episodes that would be like 5 movies!

FOX is just a really odd network. If they had just kept Family Guy,(And Futurama), they could have received all the ratings they wanted. And maybe we could have been spared from shows such as Temptation Island, The Chamber, Paradise Hotel, and The Pitts. If FOX just had enough brain cells to realize that these shows had such huge fan bases, maybe they wouldn't have cancelled them. It takes time for a series to grow and develop. It doesn't happen overnight. Luckily, the animation for Family Guy wasn't too complicated, so it could be brought back easilly. Futurama is another story though.

I never understood why Fox did'nt hold on to the series.. I'm just glad that TBS has picked the series up since I dont pick up Cartoon Network
