Default An observation of Bewitched by an 8 year old...

My 8 1/2 year old daughter has been watching Bewitched with me all weekend and enjoying every minute of it. She's really into watching all these old shows with me and I always love it when she really enjoys one.

Well earlier tonight we were watching one and the beginning came on and she noticed that it was one of the later ones with the 2nd Darren.

She looked at the TV, looked at me and said "Wait a minute. That is NOT Dick York. WHO is that guy?"

Not only was she paying attention to the actual show, she watches the credits and reads the names.

I thought it was an amusing little story

How it all came down to this, only the Devil knows. Retail Rodeo is at the corner on my left. The motel is down the road to my right. I close my eyes and try to peer into the future. On my left, I saw days upon days of lipstick and ticking clocks, dirty looks and quiet whisperings. And burning secrets that just won't ever die away. And on my right, what could I picture? The blue sky, the desert earth, stretching out into the eerie infinity. A beautiful never-ending nothing.

Smile Kids. You gotta love em.

That's an adorable story. Kids are so much smarter than we give them credit for sometimes.
I'm sure she noticed the two Gladys Kravitz's.

LOL, that is an amusing story. Glad to see the younger kids enjoying the classics. Your daughter sounds really bright too.

When I was younger (I'm 17, to turn 18 really soon), I wanted to watch the classics, but I couldn't. I am deaf and when I was growing up, NONE of the classics were closed captioned! Now that it's not the 80's and 90's anymore, they're FINALLY putting closed captioning on all the classic TV shows. They have CC on Bewitched so I can FINALLY, for the first time in 10 to 15 years, watch the classics I wanted to watch as a kid.

That is such an adorable story!

Cool! Another teenage Bewitched fan! Even though I can hear, I still like putting on the captions to TV shows sometimes to understand lines I couldn't comprehend. When Bewitched was on Hallmark, it wasn't captioned; but on TV Land, it is. I think Screen Gems captioned them too, but they didn't do as good a job.

As they say, like mother like daughter. The older she gets, the more and more like you she'll get. It's scary, but precious at the same time.

Just watching this show reminds me of my childhood. I used to watch this show when it was on Nick at Nite over a decade ago. I remember several episodes such as the one in which Darrin thinks that his new co-worker is a Warlock and the first of a two-part episode in which an insurance man (I think) discovers that Sam is a witch. I have never seen the second part. Nick at Nite was so great back in those days.

Your daughter is way ahead of where I was.

I was 6 when Bewitched had its last season. I reasoned that this actor "Dick" changed his last name partway through the series, but I couldn't understand why he would.

Wrong.

Oh, well. I guess all tall dark haired men on T.V. look alike when you're 6 years old.

Your daugher is a smart one, aye.

I'm only 11 years old to tell the truth...and TV Land is all I practically ever watch!

You just gotta love the charm and innocense of the old shows.
