Default Why no Second Season?

How is it that they cancel TAC for the last season of Diffrent Strokes? TAC came in #38 but Who's The Boss came in #37 and it was brought back a second season. What's up with that?! Why couldn't ABC make up their mind and keep TAC?

The show was, in fact renewed for a second season, but unfortunately the cast was told it would return the following year as one of those mid-season replacements, so a full year's worth of shows would not be produced. John Ritter pretty much made a ultimatum that either a full year's worth of shows be made or just to cancel the series altogether. Anyway, I think that fans were unhappy that Janet and Terri weren't around any longer, so they just tuned it out.

I recently saw one episode of this show on TV Land in John Ritters tribute, and I found the show to be good. I think the show could have done good on its own, but it just wasn't the same to audiences without the cast that was there for so long, except Jack. I wish it could have gone on longer but it was too different for audiences to accept, although John and the cast did great on this show.

I think that it would of if they had Vicky gone and have Janet come in as divorced with left over feelings for Jack.

Janet was a PLATONIC FRIEND, not a replacement for Vicky

I think that people would of watch it if they would of brought back Janet! Or Terri. Once someone is used to something for as long as 3C ran, it's hard to just come in and change it and expect people to accept it!

I agree that it would have been a great idea to have Janet divorce Phil and join Jack in romantic union.

But how does Jack just dump Vicky?

THREE'S A CROWD FROM THE VERY BEGINNING SHOULD'VE BEEN JACK AND JANET FALLING IN LOVE AND MOVING IN TOGETHER then we wouldn't have to worry about stupid Vicky.

Then would he still have to act gay in front of the landlord?

Suzanne Somers (Chrissy) actually wanted to come back to the show to play Jacks wife in the spinoff, but was turned down.

This would have been excellent for ratings, but anyone who knows all the trouble that went on behind the set, it would be almost impossible.

About Terri. P. Barnes (Terri) always hated being on the show from day 1. She asked to be let go after her first episode of Three's Company and they wouldnt let her out of her contract. When she refused to sign for more years, they cut her pay. She has said in interviews that the years of TC were the worst years of her life. So, she wouldnt have done any more years anyways.

Jack and Janet would have been possible and might have worked.

Three's A Crowd's biggest problem was The A-Team on NBC. It didn't matter who the girl was the ratings weren't going to go up a bunch. If it had anything to do with Janet, then the last season of Three's Company would have been in the top 20.

Suzanne Somers must be Slow like her character Chrissy because how the hell did she think the producers of Three's Company would have her star in Three's A crowd after contractal disputes. Plus Chrissy couldn't have been Jack's wife because they were friends. So yeah Suzanne is SLOW in real life.

I guess that worked out for the best. Suzanne now has a "successful" career in advertising, with the ThighMaster and various items on QVC.
