Wink THE Retrospective Post

Since I'm sure there will be a lot of discussion, let's have one post that will have the talk on the retrospective. And, for those of you on the west coast, don't read it unless you want to see some spoilers. I don't WHAT they will be, because it's not on yet, but I'm just warning you.

I hope everyone enjoys it!

What exactly are you saying that West Coast people don't have an opportunity to watch this? I don't understand what you are talking about here. I know you mean this post is going to be about the retrospective show after it airs, but I don't understand what you are saying about the WC people being spoiled by reading this.

OK, let's break it down:

Spoilers: Clues or information about a show that impacts what you think. It's like seeing a movie a week before everyone else, and then telling people "The butler did it." It's not a good thing.

West Coast: People on the west coast won't see it as early as the east coast people (due to the time zones).

So... if someone gets on here after the first airing and says "Estelle came on in great health" (and no, that's not possible), that's a spoiler for the people in the west who have to wait two more hours before the showing.

I'm in Indiana, so I'll be one of the first people to see it. People in California will see it a couple hours after me. THAT's what the first post meant.

People in the Eastern, Central, and Mountain time zones will all see it at the same time, at 8, 7, and 6PM, respectively. People in the Pacific time zone will have to wait three hours to see it. So in a sense, they won't have to wait any longer than the people on the East Coast, as it will air at 8PM in both places.

The prostitution is the favorite episode?? I'm a little disappointed, but oh well...

I can't wait for the retrospective!!!

It's good that Estelle was the Intimate Portrait... I'm sure because she couldn't be in the reunion.

I'm not. That's my favorite episode, too.

The retrospective is good so far. I wish that Estelle could take part in it, though.

OK... it's almost over, but I have to comment...

First... VERY DISAPPOINTED that they weren't all together. I mean, let's do ONE SCENE with the three of them. If they all felt so warm about each other, can they not stand next to one another?!?!?

I'm glad they did a bit on Stan and Miles. That was something I hadn't expected.

Glad to see some of the British show for the Queen. I wish I could see that whole thing.

Betty looks really good. Not to be rude, but I think they are doing some GOOD lighting in there.

Is Bea smoking again? Her voice has dropped.

The theme was good at the beginning...

Notice that, in the beginning, the commercials were widely spaced? At the end, they are closer together.

I wish they had talked more about their fans 20 years after the show began.

I dunno... I want some conversation on this one!! Come on people...

Also, did anyone notice the movie before the GG night started? It was called "The Moving of Sophia Miles." Isn't that ironic??

And... Rue McClanahan was in it!!!

ALSO... be sure to get the TV Guide this week (Arnold Scwarzenager is on the cover, and no, I can't spell his name). THere is an article plus an ad inside. I'm saving it!!!

Thumbs up

I liked it. The bloopers were great and they did a hell of a job with lighting. All of them looked great. One question though. They showed a clip that I've never seen before and I can't figure out with episode it's from. Sophia and Dorothy were in the scene, and I don't remember much, but Dorothy was tossing and turning and Sophia made a comment about Dorothy's feet and how they were like two frozen popsicles pressed up against her butt. I thought it was a great line, but can't figure out for the life of me what episode it's from.

Overall a great job though. I enjoyed it very much.

Was that the episode with Dorothy's lesbian friend Jean? Because I remember Rose and Dorothy in bed, and her trying to talk to her about it. I'm not sure though...

Not necessarily my favorite retro. I would have rather had the actresses just sitting together talking in front of an audience for an hour. (In fact, tomorrow night, there is going to be a DESIGNING WOMEN reunion shot with a full audience and everything.) The outtakes were hilarious. And the footage in England, but we needed much more insight rather than clips. And their favorite moments? Couldn't believe it. Seemed anti-climactic.

Hm....I don't think so. I remember Blanche, Sophia, and Dorothy in the bedroom talking about Jean, but Dorothy confronted Rose in the kitchen. I just remembered from this clip that when Sophia got out of bed, Rose had just walked in and Dorothy told her to get into bed so Sophia can go sleep in her own room. I'm pretty sure that Lifetime cut it out. And it's so hard to figure out because I didn't hear any other lines that were remotely familiar to a particular episode.

Cool I liked it.....................

I liked it, it made me laugh. I watched it with my favorite aunt and we watched it together. It was funny that they showed the calendars LOL. All those men making funny poses. That was so hilarious and then I loved the bloopers. It was so funny. LOL. I was like Oh, my gosh. I felt like I was going to laugh and not look at the screen again. LOL. ROTFL. I enjoyed it, just one small disappointment that they didn't get together, but still I loved it. It was a wonderful retrospective. It was so hilarious. LOL. ROTFL. I was surprised that Bea said at the end Goodnight Ma. That was very sweet of her to say that as a special thing about Estelle not be there. My aunt even enjoyed it, she laughed so hard with me too. Try to see the bad in the positive, at least they did a reunion special, they were planning a long time ago not to have one at all, but now they did it, because they wanted to share this with their fans, so least you can do is enjoy the fact they did this at all.. I enjoyed it very much despite a disappointment or two, but please see the bad in the positive. A long time ago, they said they would never do a reunion.

Again, I enjoyeed it with my aunt. I loved it. LOL.

That scene is from the 1st season episode called The Will. In it, Rose's daughter visits to discuss Charlie's "estate papers" as Kirsten put it and discovers that basically nothing is left. This is also the episode where Blanche is wrapped up in a big society murder and is dying to find out who did it.

Pertaining to the Reunion:

I thought it was well done and don't really have any complaints about it. I especially loved it at the end when Bea sent a message out to Estelle, "We love ya Ma!"
