Question A lot of good parts missing on tonights 10:30 episode

Hi again Facts fans,

I can't believe how much Nick-at-Nite cut out of tonights episode where the guys says Tootie a lot. They cut a few parts of him(the Rod Serling type-guy), where Tootie walks in to find Jo dead, when Beverly Ann comes to tell the girls Andy's dead, when George goes upstairs to search the house, where everyone's together and they talk about the wires being cut and probably more. Why does Nick-at-nite do this? I'll never know. How does everyone else feel about this? I know it happens a lot but since this episode is my favorite, it was more noticeable. I mean, it's not like these episodes were longer than 30 minutes long when they aired in the 80's. Let me know what you think.

Thanks. I appreciate it,
Adam

Sad

I really hate that too...but I don't usually notice since this is the first time I've seen any of the eps. Can we do anything about it? Flood N@N with complaints.

I remember seeing this as a little kid but only the guy saying "Tootie". What else did they cut out. Like with Jo's death? Please fill me in on what they cut out.

------------------
Tootie: Can we sing?
Jo: Sing?
Tootie: That's what I do when I'm scared what do you do?
Jo: Slap people

Blair: A Warner is like a delicate soufle
Jo: Yeah light and empty

Nat: I'd rather be a happy magic marker than a skinny pencil

Cool

Here's all of the parts I noticed that were cut out from the original NBC version... It's a long list so bear with me.

********************************************
'ANDY DIES' SCENE>>some parts cut out.

Beverly Ann: It's Andy, He's, He's de-de-de-de-de-de

Natalie: Stuttering?

Jo: What? Andy's what?

Beverly Ann: de-de-de-de-de-de

Everyone: de-de-de-de-de-de

___________

Natalie: Or murder?

Haunting music plays

Tootie: Murder?
Natalie: Murder!
Blair: Murder?
Natalie: Murder!
Beverly Ann: Murder?
Jo: She said Murder, alright!

_____________

Natalie: Or maybe someone cut it?
Tootie: cut it?
Natalie: cut it!
Blair: cut it?
Natalie: cut it!
Beverly Ann: cut it?
Jo: cut it out!

______________even though these parts happened, some lines were cut out from the original.

****************************

The part where George goes to check upstairs for the killer is condensed. On the original, he's shown walking to the right, then the left saying..."Is anyone there?"
Then Jo says: That outta flush him out.

'GEORGE DIES' SCENE
Tootie: what's that?
Natalie: You are a bat!
Tootie: Don't you hear it?
Beverly Ann: the sound of a steady, relentless, ka-thump, ka-thump, ka-thump... foreshadowing the approach of some kind of unspeakable, menacing evil.
Tootie: that's right!
Beverly Ann: No, I don't hear it!

'BLAIR DIES' SCENE
Jo about Blair: Looks like she was moussed to death!(this scene was on but the next wasn't. I was just trying to lead in to it so everyone knew where I was.)
Tootie: Poor Blair! Well, at least she died the way she lived--looking at herself!

SCENE AFTER BLAIR DIES WHERE THEY"RE SITTING AT THE TABLE:

Beverly Ann: Good thing I put the cocoa in the thermos! It's still hot.
"Rod Serling": <toasting marshmallows> And so they sit, hoping to find some small measure of comfort in the topsy-tervey miasma of the nights events with some cocoa--wisely kept in a thermos. An amazing device thermos. it keeps hot things hot and cold things cold. the question is...how do it know?
<turn his head towards the fire>
<turns to camera>
"Tootie!"

Beverly Ann: An interesting thing has just occurred to me about our "Mr. Killer"

Then Beverly Ann dies eventually after this, which you all saw.
****************************************
Tootie walks in after leaving through the store with an umbrella and garbage can lid in hand.

<looks behind door>--music follows her every move
<tiptoes through the living room>--music still following her.

Tootie yells upstairs to the person in charge of the music: Would you pipe down, I'm trying to sneak up on somebody here!

music ends

VERY funny part that really shouldn't have been cut out.

****************************************
Last scene when the pig with the chainsaw is at the door:
Tootie: listen?
Natalie: what?
Tootie: looking confused.

So there you have it. All of the parts that were missing from the original episode. Amazing how much they really cut out, isn't it! Some of the stuff is meaningless but many good parts were cut out. Well, now hopefully most who never saw the original can get a good feeling of how funny it really was with these missing parts now revealed.

Talking

Thankyou very much. It makes alot more sense why Jo would get so uptight over the murder and cut it outs since after each person said it Natalie reanswered them. It was still a funny show though. Thanks again!

Jo

------------------
Blair: (makes wheezing noise)
Jo:i have when you do that!
Blair: do what?
Jo:SIGH!
Blair: it wasnt a sigh!
Jo: weel, if it wasn't a sigh then you've got a slow leak!
Tootie: C'mon guys cool it!

Blair: (makes wheezing noise again)
Jo: you're doing it again!
Blair: i happen to be breathing!
Jo: you do it just to annoy me!
Blair: i do it to keep from dying!

Blair: he asked you on a...ugh!
Tootie: date blair, we call it a date!

Blair: i dont go to wingdings, i go to cotillions.
Jo: well if this thing is a dance at the Highcrest Country Club, then your cottilion and my wingding are the same thing!

Exclamation

You're welcome.

Anyway, here it is...Andy went into the store to blow up the inflatable moose and the antlers punctured the plastic containers filling the horseradish, causing him to slip on the jellybeans..and then when he opened his mouth to say ouch, that's when the rubber cement fell in and finished him off. Death by Rube Goldberg. Why they had horseradish, I have no clue. Maybe they just left it out from the kitchen.

The part when Beverly Ann says "Andy's d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d....." is the funniest part. NAN cut it out which I hate. They also did it when Tootie yelled out "So long Turkey" from the jail cell to a criminal in the 1980 episode entitled "The New Girl". When you have a favorite quote, don't you hate it when a station will have it cut? Thankfully I have the USA version of "The New Girl".

I'm a second generation FOL watcher and I've never seen the original version of that show. I wonder why they would do that. It makes no sense. Especially since it was one of the funnist one. That really sucks. I think we should make a petition or something.

Jo

Jo:"I'm gonna loosen some teeth."

Jo:"What's that disgusting smell? Why Blair, it's you!"

Jo:"Uh, in a minute you're gonna be wearing flared teeth."

Jo:"You're born, you move on, you die, that's life"

Jo: "I thought you liked me in that way that you like somebody when you like them in that way."

Jo: "I don't think I can get this stuff down. I'll get some
beer!"

Tootie: Can we sing?
Jo: Sing?
Tootie: "That's what I do when I'm scared, what do you do?"
Jo: "Slap people."

Mrs. G: "Part of me wishes you would have hit him with something."
Jo: "Oh, I did, that's what happened to the other shoe."

Roy: "How's my little cucumber?"
Jo: "Don't call me vegetables, Roy!"

Jo: "There's always been things I've wanted to say to him. Now that I'm older I know better words."

Jo: "The only place I wanna see a cow is slapped on a bun with some 57 sause."

So the Fake Serling was toasting marshmallows before Beverly Ann was killed?

Well, that explains the scene where Beverly Ann pulls a stick with roasted marshmallows out of the fireplace and looks at it oddly. That happened just before Tootie woke up.

Stupid nick at nite.

Yeah, Nick-at-Nite really knows how to destroy great episodes! Something should be done about this--I agree! But would they really listen? Most likely not, unfortunately.

I was most irritated about this on Saturday night, the episode where Jo's dad dates a younger woman. I sat there wondering, "when is Jo going to go and kill Blair?" she didn't, which was REALLY odd to me. And then they showed that freeze frame in the credits where Jo's Chasing Bair and I was just like, "well, that must've been really funny, thanks a LOT!" If they're cutting 6 minutes like we're all thinking, that's like 20-25% of the episode we're not seeing. Isn't that a little out of hand? All I do now is obsess over what I'm NOT seeing.

Seriously! I was too young to remember these episodes from the time I saw them before but I was thinking when I read about this episode that Jo will really be upset at Blair- now either there used to be a part like that and it was cut out or I think the writers could have done a better job. I mean I'm sorry if due to a set up my dad started dating a 23 year old I'd be a little upset!
