It is that time of year, at least for me. Tonight is prom night. I'm don't know if any of you remember but I was elected school President and I helped a little bit in organizing this event. Unlike most proms, it will be informal and 50s style. No tuxedos and no expensive dresses. Plus, I have a date this year, unlike last year.
I'm already having a good day because my softball team just finished the regular season undefeated with an 18-11 victory. I'm the starting catcher for my school. That game was as exciting as the 1975 World Series (and that is saying a lot). We had no practice this week at all. We got behind at one point, I think it was 8-7, and I seriously thought, "Oh man. Is it the end?" (our school hasn't lost a single game since 1999) Next thing you know, with two outs a runner was coming home and the shortstop threw home and the runner was out. That was the turning point. A half inning later, we scored several runs and I later added a single to drive in a run. After it was over, several players on my team told me that I won the ball game. My philosophy when it comes to softball is that one person cannot win a team game. A win is a team win and a loss is a team loss. If your team loses because one player makes a miscue, that player alone does not lose the game. Same thing with a victory. That's the way I look at it. I told those players that we didn't win the game solely because of me. I made a couple of good plays but like I said, one person cannot win a game. Everybody won it. |

You're right. One person on their own can't win a game. It takes teamwork to make that happen. Congrats on your team winning the game. And, good luck with your prom.

Hey, congrats on softball! I played softball and went to prom (although not in the same year)
I was a catcher, myself ![]() Have fun at prom! Mine was a night to remember... A guy that I'd been friends with for years and years was by my side all night. (To make matters weirder - my date and his date were also dancing together all night.) On top of it, a girl in our group and I really started talking - more than we'd ever done before. She got married last summer, and I was one of her bridesmaids! Now THERE'S a prom story!
