Default Worst Recordable Tape Brand

Since many of you record stuff and trade, I was wondering what brand of tapes you thought were the worst?

For me, I'd have to say LDK and Sony. Sony tapes always mess up in my VCR. I've bought about 4 10-packs within the last year and out of those I've had at least 5-6 defective tapes altogether, if not more. And the ones that aren't defective sometimes skip or get stuck in the VCR. But nowadays those are the easiest ones to get..my favorite one, Maxell, is now available in only one store here. - sniffle -

I definitely agree with you. We live in a small town, but the best they've got here are the Fuji brand.

LDK and Maxell. I dont like Maxell tapes at ALL. I have never had a problem with Sony tapes ever. I like Sony, Fuji and Kodak but they dont sell Kodak here where I live. Now man if they still made SCOTCH videos I'd be all over those.

LOL it's okay. I just prefer to not tape myself on them. I taped an Olympic event in 1996 and the Maxell tape (Silver) was really bad qualtiy afterwards. So now I dont like to use them.

But that's just moi

If you can afford to get tapes by the bulk (60 or more at a time) the best place is Tape World. www.tapeworld.com they will beat any price.

it's cheaper to buy tapes like that (single ones) at Big Lots. They are 97 cents each.

LDK suck-- they really do. I always get annoyed when I recieve one of those in the mail.

I also don't like RCA. They aren't too bad, but something about it just drives me nuts.

I perfer JVC myself and that is what I use for everything.

I myself think fuji is the best, but i use a cheap brand called Maxonic, they are only a $1 and the dollar store and record very well. i have never had any complaints about them. It is very hard to find good 8 hour tapes here, most 8 hour tapes around here arent high quality tapes. =)

You should never use those types of tapes to send to people. I'm sure if they knew you were buying them at the dollar store they'd probably have a fit. Those tapes are reused, blanked, taped over and are so cheaply made it's not even funny.

You can get tapes at Walmart for just as much (or less) and they are quality tapes.

I'd stay far away from dollar store tapes.

Yes never ever buy Blank vcr tapes out of a dollar store. Especially if you want them last.

I like JVC the best, but I can't find them anymore! I'm stuck with Sony (which I don't like) and Maxell.

Anyone know where I can get JVCs at a reasonable price?
