'Buffy' Star Says Call Me 'Giles' - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

LOS ANGELES - Go ahead, you can still call Anthony Stewart Head "Giles" and he won't mind.

Even though "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" is history, Head knows for a lot of fans, he'll always be Giles, no matter what else he does.

He says "that's the best part of the show and the best part of the business." Head says "occasionally you are blessed with the chance to do something that people are so taken with they hold it dear."

"Buffy," which starred Sarah Michelle Gellar as a young woman burdened with the responsibility of killing vampires, debuted in March 1997 on the WB, where it spent five seasons before moving to UPN. The series' final episode was broadcast this month, and has spun off the series "Angel," which is still shown on the WB network.

Head and the creator of "Buffy," Joss Whedon, are still talking about doing a TV movie called "Ripper." It would focus on Giles' darker side.

Anthony rocks. I'm glad to hear that he's the type of person that doesn't mind being called his character name. I just can't stand it when an actor or actress just doesn't even want to be associated with their character anymore. Yeah, I know people want to move ahead, but I just hate when they get this attitude problem and say 'Don't call me _______(Insert character name). My name is ______________(Insert real name). It's a real kick in the head if they were really known for one character and that character really made them who they were.

I'd watch the Ripper movie, too.

I know! That is so irritating!

I don't care what a new spin-off is about. If Joss has full control of it's direction, it will be a hit! I can't wait!
